So disappointed. I came twice to Vilvoorde especially for this restaurant. They claim to be open on Sunday lunchtime. First time I arrived the restaurant was closed. Second time I wanted to make sure and called them 1 day in advance to make a reservation for 12:30 lunchtime. So 2nd week in a row back to Vilvoorde especially for the Horse House, just to find out the restaurant was closed again, despite my reservation

Wonderful horse steak. Excellent value for money and quality. We’re invited to the Horse-House by our Belgian friends and had a perfect evening. I recommend this restaurant for the all real meat connoisseurs.

Really welcoming restaurant, just about to close but stayed open for us. The horse steak, chips and pepper sauce was a delight. I was half tempted after choosing my steak, when asked what I wanted on it, to say a fiver each way! But I held back. My colleague had to hear all the puns on the way home. Highly recommended.

This place looks like those place you would normally never enter. Ultra narrow, dated looks, they don’t accept cards and obviously, it is all horse meat so if you are a horse lover, don’t go there.
SO WHY 5 STARS ?
1. The staff is very local and friendly/familiar.
2. The meat quality is the best I ever tasted.
3. The cuisine is very traditional and mostly homemade (Fries, sauce, croquette).
4. The owner is incredible… seriously, he is a show.
5. They poored us down fair glass of alcohol as digestive. Everytime we went.

Had a table booked for 8:30, arrived at 8:38, we have been denied sitting in the restaurant because the kitchen was closed.
When we said it is okay anyway, since we made all that way till vilvoorde we would stay for a beer at least. We have been answered that it is not a pub. Worst customer service!
