I’ve eaten here a lot over the years but it’s been while because I lived out in West Virginia. I’ve moved back in the area and it’s like what I remembered. Great home-cooked food. I got the deluxe breakfast and it was excellent. Glad to see that this place hasn’t changed. Definitely recommend.

I have been stopping by this place ever since the early 1970s on my way to visit family in the Tidewater area. Haven’t been down there that much over the past 20 or 30 years but this is exactly as I remember it. The food and the prices were great. The service was also really good. Plenty of parking!

I have been eating here semi regularly for about 4 years now. It is amazing both the food and the staff are top notch. I enjoy the home style meals they prepare or just a simple burger. Their milkshake is best in the area and my young daughter loves perusing the nick knacks. Honestly I find a few items to buy myself occasionally. The take home desserts are also delicious. I can’t say it has always been perfect nothing is but on average this restaurant far exceeds the atmosphere and value of the chain gang. I even have family that insist to eat here everything to come to town from out of state to visit. I will continue to be a loyal support here.

Horne’s is one of the last of its kind, and it deserves every bit of support it can get. I stopped in for lunch and had the chop steak with mashed potatoes and gravy, onions, green beans, and iced tea, finished off with a slice of lemon meringue pie. Every bite was home-style comfort, the kind of food that warms your soul when you need it most.
I’ve been carrying a lot personally and professionally these past few weeks, and there was something about sitting down at Horne’s today that just made things right, at least for that moment. The chop steak and pie didn’t just fill me up, they reminded me what comfort really tastes like.
Here’s the truth: you don’t have to be local to appreciate Horne’s. If you’re within driving distance, make the trip. It’s worth every mile. These kinds of local places are rare, and once they’re gone, they’re gone.

I was really excited to eat here but I ended up really disappointed. The mashed potatoes came out cold, the turkey gravy had a gamy flavor, and the chicken wings had barely any sauce and were not spicy at all. One gentleman who was seated before everyone else in the back dining room was served after 5 other tables and had to ask for his food several times. Then they didn’t bring all his food out at once. I felt really badly for him and they only offered a hurried apology and turned and left. Some of the waitresses I observed were great but too many of them seemed to be in a hurry and should have better staffing on a busy Sunday. My waitress was really sweet and cheerful and quick to reheat my potatoes.

We enjoyed our meal at Horne’s. It was our first time there this past Saturday. Our waiter was friendly and didn’t hesitate to correct a mistake on my son’s meal. My children each got a sundae and they were huge and delicious.

Great food at a great price. Family style atmosphere where kids and grown ups can share the same space. It can be a little noisy but thats also what makes it great in my opinion. The food is served quickly and the staff is always friendly. Ive ate here maybe a dozen times, all were positive visits. My favorite meals so far have been the country fried steak dinner and a grilled chicken salad with pecans and raisins but honestly everything is good. Fried chicken may cause a bit of a wait so you may want to order ahead if you a craving their delicious crispy chicken.
