Of all the places in Tally, Hopkins is one of my very favorites! I love every sandwich, salad & dessert I’ve ever ordered, and in could drink a gallon of that sweet mint tea. Truly a treasures Tallahassee institution, one I visit over and over again.

Hopkins is undoubtedly a local favorite, it has a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. I saw everything from business lunches to couples and families with dogs (outside) all enjoying themselves. As you walk up to order, the aisle is flanked by a dozen business awards. Originally I was headed to Publix but saw Hopkins on the way and decided to give it a try and unfortunately they dropped the ball on this one. As seen in the photo, there is more sauerkraut than corned beef on this sandwich. Although from a flavor standpoint, I finished the sandwich no problem as it was still tasty, but I’m lucky I ordered a side of chicken salad because I would be starving for the rest of the day. I suspect this was circumstantial as there’s no way anyone would spend another $13 on a sauerkraut sandwich. I’m on the fence as to whether or not I’ll be going back, perhaps I’ll mention this tragedy to them on a return visit and I can change that 3 star review to the 5 I’m sure they can manage.

This place, at least this particular location, feels geared to a much older generation than my family was. The live plants were an absolute delight, tho. I ordered a tuna melt (the cheese wasn’t melted) and it was so so sloppy. Immediately after we left the restaurant my stomach started feeling gurgly and bloated. Now after working a shift through minor stomach pains, I’ve been up since 4 in the morning stuck in the restroom. Do NOT order the tuna melt. The rest of my family did not enjoy their sandwiches either, but at least none of them have gotten sick. If it wasn’t the Tuna melt, it was the water dispenser. There was a very strong taste of mold and mildew in the water (I got no ice), their drink dispenser must have not been cleaned for a few years to achieve that disgusting taste. We’ve all been eating the same meals the past 5 days, so unfortunately I know it was due to Hopkins. We’ll be going to Hawthorne next time.

Salmon sandwich was absolutely delicious! Got it on Rye Pump bread, with sprouts, instead of arugula and with the aioli on the side. Disclosure: the aioli is not so much a sauce.. rather more paste-like, so if you get it on the side, make sure you grab a knife or something to be able to spread it easily on your bread at your leisure. (Avoid making the mess I made). Regardless, I’m definitely coming back here!

Hopkins was the lunch choice today. I recently found out that they have a gf bread. So, I got agf Cuban, no mayo and the ham and beans soup that’s made with a healthy base instead of chicken!Great customer service. Excellent Cobb salad ! I added the avocado (not sure if they offer it).

So I called ahead so I wouldn’t have to wait too long. But when I got there to pick it up, I had to go to the end of the 6 person ordering line and wait. Then the sandwich wasn’t ready because they had to microwave it AGAIN. The 2 sandwiches were messy mush. Yuk. I will not back. The one on Market Square does better.
