I had a surprisingly great experience for a little hole in the wall bar!
The atmosphere was great – old school bar, nice holiday decor, and notably the music was the perfect vibe and the perfect volume. The music added ambiance and wasn’t so loud to affect conversation.
The service was quick and friendly.
The food was surprisingly good! I really enjoyed the chicken thigh bites with sweet chili sauce. The broccolini as a side of the steak was thick and undercooked, so I would try the asparagus next time instead. The slice of tiramisu was big.
The cocktails are most notable! I definitely recommend trying the cocktails. I got the snakebite – it was sweet and well balanced, and it has a good amount of alcohol but it sneaks up on you due to the fabulous taste. I also enjoyed the Molly’s Lips.
The pinball and other games added a unique element you don’t get to experience anymore – I thoroughly enjoyed it.

What an awesome place it’s the first time I ever come to Boston and ran into this place while looking for somewhere to eat and have a drink and they have great selection of beers on tap, including a fantastic German beer, great food, great staff great atmosphere. They have arcade machines, a pool table and shuffleboard. great little spot. I highly recommend..

One of the only bars I’ve ever had good food at as a vegan. Staff was extremely friendly. If you can sit by a open window it’s a plenty nice dinning experience but at the bar has several large TVs which is not to my taste. Still I know that has more appeal to some people. Overall favorable impression.

I love the atmosphere and the service. The dinner menu usually feels a bit overpriced for what it is. Brunch on the other hand is wonderful. Getting an outdoor seat and getting brunch is my favorite at this place. Overall I’ve had a lot of great times here.

The food here is absolutely delicious , I come here almost once a week, and every dish I’ve tried so far was was fresh, flavorful, and made with care. But what made the experience truly special was the service. Mikayla (sorry if I misspelled the name) went above and beyond to make me feel welcome. She is super attentive and friendly. I have lived down the street from Hopewell for three years and have given this place more chances than I should have. The food has always been pretty mediocre and overpriced, so recently I’ve only tried coming in for drinks.
Tonight the bar was completely packed, so my friend and I sat at an empty table because there was nowhere else to go. No menus were on the table and no one came over for a while. When a waitress finally approached, we asked whether we should order drinks from her or at the bar. She said the tables are kept for dinner service. I pointed out that it was 9:45 PM, well past any reasonable dinner rush, and we were just trying to get a drink since the bar was full. She told us that if anyone came in wanting dinner she would have to move us anyway. I would also like to point out since it was about 10PM no one asked us if we were just drinking or wanting dinner at the door.
At that point we just left. This is also the second time this has happened, I came in with about 5 friends two weeks ago, sat at a table because there wasn’t any other space. No one ever came over and we were just confused so we left. I’ve tried to make this place work so many times, but it consistently misses the mark.

Hopewell always hits! The food here is incredible, nothing more needs to be said. But honestly, the truffle fries are a must. The pizza was a 10/10. The cocktails our server recommended were perfection. I’m already looking forward to going back. Wish I saved room for dessert because everything sounded good. The vibes are cozy and quaint.

If you’re looking for an Allston bar with great food and a nostalgic vibe, Hopewell is the spot. They have daily specials-half-off chicken sandwich Wednesdays is my favorite. With a full bar and kitchen that is open until 12ish, it is the perfect spot for an after class meal or food with friends even late.
