Very clean inside, the employee at the front was very friendly and walked me through the menu and ordering process. Really liked the collard greens!
It’s a bit pricey but worth the extra cost to help fund their mission to feed the community.

Stopped in to try it out and was not disappointed. Had the pulled pork sandwich with greenbeans. The greenbeans where well seasoned and still had a great snap to them! The pulled pork was moist and tender and the sauce was sweet with a hint of spice and the bun was buttered and toasted. The cornbread was delicious and sweet will definitely be back!

Gave this local southern kitchen a try. It was good. My family didn’t love their choices. This was my first time trying grits. I had loaded grits (Delicious) im not a corn bread lover. These Hope cakes were good (I’m just not a fan.) The loaded grits were a custom bowl build. I had shrimp and grits with eggs and bacon. It was soooo good. Its definitely worth a stop if you’re in the area.

Wow. My wife and I had an early lunch here today. She ordered a LOADED baked potato with brisket and their amazing BBQ sauce — it was to die for. I had The Heroes Breakfast w/ Hope Cakes — everything was so perfectly prepared. My wife is from Philly and has never had them, and she almost but my finger off to get more lol. I cant say the service was anything less than incredible. We both left the establishment feeling so thankful for their commitment to the community, but astonished by their hospitality and quality dish. SO GOOD! I emplore you to give them your patronage. You won’t be disappointed.

Not MY idea of soul food, but it’s decent. I placed an online order for brisket, fried chicken and ribs but at my pick up time (3:15 pm on a Saturday) I received a phone call saying they were out of the brisket. So let’s start with the good, the ribs, chicken and hope cakes were pretty good. The bbq sauce made the ribs for me. I was not a fan of the Mac and cheese however it was decent (again I was looking for more of a soul food type Mac). The fries were over seasoned with old bay and put in a plastic to-go container which immediately made them sweat and get soggy. I live about 35 min away so I had to eat those in the car, though they were still a bit soggy. The green beans weren’t great but not the worst, not much flavor and a little spice to it. The same goes for the collards which were out the can by the way so I was a bit disappointed. They were also a little sweet, not a good flavor to me. The sweet tea was good, it was actually very sweet like I like it. My takeaway: I’m not sure if I would visit again but if I did it would only be for the chicken, ribs and hope cakes.

Justin was our server and he was exceptionally helpful. My wife is a picky eater and he was very patient while we looked through the menu. Justin was able to assist us in substituting chicken for shrimp in the shrimp and grits meal. The food we received was excellent and seasoned to perfection. I, myself had gotten a heroes breakfast and their hope homestyled potatoes were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The ideal texture for a potato. Sausage patties were seasoned well and their Hope cakes was a cornbread mix that paired well with sweet tea I had. This place was absolutely perfect for a Sunday brunch and the service was equally exceptional. We will be returning.

Uplifting food with a mission!
Hope Heroes Southern Kitchen blends classic Southern comfort food with a meaningful mission of Helping Other People Eat by supporting local food insecurity efforts. I had a great experience at Hope Heroes Southern Kitchen. The food was flavorful, comforting, and clearly made with care — true Southern cooking done right. The staff was warm and welcoming, and I love that the restaurant has a bigger mission of giving back to the community. You can feel the heart behind what they do. Definitely worth stopping by if you’re in Fredericksburg! And when ya do! Order the chicken wings!!

We definitely enjoyed our meal at Hope Heros. The mac and cheese is some of the best that I’ve had. The green beans and hope cakes were delicious. We’re vegetarian, and the tofu option was awesome. Definitely unique among barbeque establishments in our area.
