Hope and Anchor in Tenby serves one of the best fish pies I’ve ever had. It was rich, creamy, and packed with a delicious variety of seafood that gave it incredible depth of flavor.
We also tried the fish and chips, steak, and lobster. While everything was well-prepared, the standouts for me were definitely the fish pie and the lobster, as both were absolutely delicious.
For dessert, we had chocolate and strawberry ice cream which tasted alright.
If you’re visiting Tenby, I highly recommend stopping by the Hope and Anchor, especially for the fish pie.

Don’t get me wrong food was delicious but my friend and I got the worst seafood poisoning of our life. We had classic mussels and I really regret our choice.
I have never been this ill in my life

We stopped in for a quick lunch. It was really crowded but it was raining outside and everyone was looking for a place to hide out till it passed. The bar is well equipped, the menu is filled, and the service is fast. What else can one ask for on a rainy Tenby day? We really enjoyed our food and even had a chance to chat with some other patrons who were also very nice. Once we finished our food we gained enough courage to brave the rain and keep exploring Tenby. If you haven’t been here, you must go. If you have been here you must go back. I know we would.

The restaurant was fully booked, but they were able to accommodate our party between reservations. The service, food, and beverages were excellent. My wife enjoyed the cod curry, my daughter had beef tacos, and I ordered the Pembrokeshire beef burger.

What a gem!
We visited Tenby for the day, stumbled across this place, we were looking for a fishy lunch, perfect!
We shared a pint of prawns, mussels with samphire and chicken wings.
It was absolutely delicious.
The pub was so so busy but the staff are brilliant, speedy services, nice happy staff. Would recommend!

Pretty disappointing fish and chips for a supposed gastropub. Lovely welcome, good beer menu, nice atmosphere with dogs and chatting and kid friendly. But bang average chips, solid fish and cheap horrible tartare sauce sachets (even though it was on the menu suggesting homemade etc). For £17 not great but seems going price for anything at all these days. Other specials did look better but £20-30

Popped in to this pub for a meal and we were not disappointed at all. Great food, beer and service. I had the steak which was excellent and for the price and the size of the portion was excellent value. My wife had the fish pie and she had lots of large pieces of tasty fish. The staff were super helpful and we had a great experience. Would definitely go back if we come back to Temby.

Just returned from a wonderful dining experience at the Hope & Anchor in Tenby. This charming pub delivers exactly what you want from a quality Welsh coastal establishment – hearty portions of excellently prepared comfort food with friendly service that makes you feel right at home.
The steak and ale pie was absolutely magnificent – a golden, flaky pastry casing filled with rich, tender chunks of meat swimming in a deeply flavored gravy. It came served with a generous portion of perfectly crisp chips and fresh tenderstem broccoli for a bit of green balance.
Their fish and chips is equally impressive – a substantial piece of fish encased in light, crispy batter that shatters perfectly with each bite. The accompanying mushy peas had just the right consistency and flavor, and the chips were again cooked to perfection – crisp exterior with fluffy centers.
What truly elevated the experience was the exceptional service. The staff went above and beyond to ensure we had everything needed, offering recommendations and checking in without being intrusive. Their genuine warmth and attentiveness made the meal even more enjoyable.
The rustic wooden tables and relaxed atmosphere create the perfect setting for savoring these classic pub dishes. Whether you’re a local or just visiting Tenby, the Hope & Anchor is definitely worth seeking out for a satisfying meal in comfortable surroundings. Highly recommended for anyone craving authentic, well-executed pub fare with a warm welcome.
