It’s been a year since I’ve been here. I needed a treat and even though it’s a drive from my current job, it’s worth it.
There’s a few places around the sugarland area but their reviews aren’t exceptional like this place. It’s consistent.
Whomever said Marsha isn’t nice must’ve been having an off day.
She’s always pleasant even if she doesn’t smile. You have to understand people’s expressions aren’t the same.
She represents home for me even though I’m Trini.
Curried goat always hits.

Just had the oxtail at Hop A Long and I’m officially obsessed! The meat was so tender it practically melted in my mouth, and the seasoning hit every note rich, savory, and full of authentic Jamaican flavor. The gravy was thick, flavorful, and made my rice and peas next-level delicious. Portions were generous, vibes were cozy, and every bite was pure comfort food magic. If you’re sleeping on Hop A Long, you’re missing out big time!

I was in the area and looked up “food near me” and this popped up. AMAZING! That’s all I have to say. I had the brown stew chicken with rice, cabbage, and fried plantains and I want to say it’s some of the best Jamaican food I’ve had in a while.
I do have to say, when I went it was 11:00am and it was very quiet. They didn’t have any music playing which would’ve been nice but it was still peaceful. Give it a try!

I dined in at Hop-A-Long’s Jamaican Kitchen for the first time on 11/12/2024. Whenever I’m greeted with a smile and warm welcome upon entering a restaurant, I know that the food will be good. And they didn’t disappoint.
I ordered the curry chicken with rice and rice, and it was cooked to perfection.
The price for a large meal was much lower than I’d expected and worth more than the price.
The restaurant was clean and they have an A health inspection.
I will be dining here again.

I’ve been on the search for the most authentic jerk chicken in Houston… a few places came close, but none of them taste as good as Hop-A-Long’s in Rosenberg! Hands down the best jerk chicken!! We eat here just about every week and the service is great! Order the side of plantains, too.

1 of my favorite Caribbean spots to go to. The food is really good. My recommendation is largae oxtails with rice and peas and cabbage, beef patty and coco bread with the pineapple or champagne soda. It’s going to full you up for the whole day!

Hidden gem! My first visit, I ordered the small oxtail dinner. The food was flavorful and the oxtails were very tender. Definitely made with love. The prices were also reasonable. I would definitely recommend and look forward to returning.

It’s really difficult to find good, authentic Jaimacan cuisine in Texas, but this restaurant didn’t disappoint! Jerk chicken was good, and the oxtails were outstanding! The service was friendly. But the only complaint I have is the plantains were fried in too much oil. Would I dine here again? Absolutely!
