This place is an absolute gem. A top-tier butcher shop and an incredible wine shop all in one—honestly, it doesn’t get better than this. The meat selection is outstanding, the wine inventory is vast and thoughtfully curated, and the food? Completely to die for. Having an in-house chef makes all the difference—the takeout meals, dine-in options, and brunch are consistently phenomenal.
The atmosphere is just as special as the food. The outdoor patio with string lights is beyond charming, and the indoor dining space is just as warm and inviting. Danielle, the sommelier, is incredibly knowledgeable and always makes spot-on wine recommendations—we feel like family every time we walk in. They remember what we like, genuinely care about their customers, and it shows in every detail.

Hoover Steaks and Wines is a great date night spot for you and your significant other. Food is very good. You can buy steaks while there and they will prep it for you. They do a pretty good job I would avoid brunch if you want a steak because the chef limits what you can have to the coulette. I also enjoyed being able to have a steak prepared by them on Sundays instead of me grilling. I hope the offer those options especially with us being the only ones here. The server was very good. Keep the chef in the back. He doesn’t understand customer service especially with an empty restaurant. Really wanted a Strip but forced to eat a burger. Cheers Chef. The burger is very good to be fair.

This what an unexpected experience. Who knew that in the little Hoover plaza is hiding this gem? The charcuterie board was the best I ever had. The meat was cooked to perfection. The wine selection was superb. We loved everything – the food, the overall ambiance, the service. You can tell that this place is run by people who truly care. We had an amazing time, left with a bottle of wine and will definitely be back.

I found this gem of a place back in January and haven’t stopped shopping there since! I go about once, maybe twice a week:):) They have a fabulous selection of wine and are so helpful with all my wine questions! My husband loves the cuts of meat and the take and bakes are top notch!! If you are lucky enough to get a chicken pot pie, you won’t be disappointed!! And did I mention that wine selection?!?!

Very impressive local wine shop with outstanding food and fun relaxed atmosphere! So glad owners Josh and Josh and their families put this local restaurant and wine shop in across from the Hoover Met! Very friendly staff with great wine, awesome charcuterie boards, and probably the best burger in all of Birmingham! Also love the weekly free wine tastings on most Tuesdays and Fridays from 4:30-6:30 PM which offer a nice service to meet local distributors, sample new wines, and socialize with the patrons. Would highly recommend this family friendly local restaurant/wine bar, particularly in the spring, summer, and fall given their ample outdoor seating.

Stop by to have a bite after the Finley event. Sat down waiting a good while before anyone took our order. Said they were sorry had big tables but they were taken care of so they would now take our order and it would not be long. After two glass of tea still waiting. Someone came by and said still waiting I am sorry I will check. The bar area is now crowded and they are waiting on them. Next a table that came it after us received there food it looked good. After a while it was over an hour after we first sat down. We left as we were do to meet someone.
Also there was a table of two out front that came in after us had been served.
I hope that they improve on their service. Their food looked good.
But for us it was not a place I would recommend unless you have a lot of time to send there.

Hoover Steaks and Wine is hands down one of the best dining experiences I’ve had. I ordered the Steak Flight Meal and it was exceptional, each cut was cooked to perfection, tender, and bursting with flavor. The variety really showcased the quality and skill of the kitchen. The service was just as impressive: attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable, making me feel truly taken care of. The atmosphere is warm, elegant, and inviting, perfect for a night out or a special occasion. If you’re a steak lover or just someone who appreciates excellent food and wine, this place is an absolute must. Highly recommend!
