Laid-back and unpretentious, Hoopples is the kind of bar that doesn’t try too hard—and that’s what makes it great. The drinks are fairly priced, the view of the river is a quiet surprise, and the crowd feels like a mix of regulars and newcomers who all somehow belong. Service can be a bit slow when it’s packed, but the bartenders are always kind. If you’re looking for a no-frills spot with solid vibes and music that doesn’t scream over your thoughts, Hoopples gets it right.

Went here yesterday for a coworkers birthday and I really liked the atmosphere at the bar. I didn’t get food myself but everything my coworkers got looked so good. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Was there for a weekday happy hour.

This was my favorite stop in Cleveland.

We came from Wisconsin and walked into Hoopples after a baseball game at Progressive Field and it immediately felt like home. Just a classic corner bar with a great vibe. Everyone from the bartender to the local regulars were super welcoming and friendly. Loved the bowling machine and you get a great view of Cleveland and The Flats from your barstool

Off the trail, before Browns game, figured we’d stop in for a quick refresher. They had schnitzel as food special and a few draft options. It was fantastic and the environment was locals watching the game. No drama, comfy place.

Nice, fun little bar. Played darts and bowling. Had Jupa juice shots when the bridge outside raises. Try it once. Overall a great experience. Didn’t eat.

Hellooo!! Visiting from miami beach, I stopped for a beer while walking around cleveland. We found this bar on our way and got in for a quick refreshment.
Just had a cold local beer. $4,75. Cash only under $10 baby!!

They have a great old blowing machine and darts. So we entertained ourselves for a while. Good music and a great bridge view. Look at the pictures.

A laid-back Cleveland staple that attracts a variety of ages and provides a great view of downtown and the Cuyahoga River. One of my favorite spots in the city.

Major Hooples is one the best bars in Cleveland. The bar overlooks the Columbus Road Bridge with downtown Cleveland and the Cuyahoga river in the background. Every walk of life goes to this bar. Politicians, lawyers, longshoremen, sports fans. It has a great feel, good selection of beers and a great kitchen. I highly recommend getting a beer before or after a game.

Hooples is a dive bar, but it has the feeling of Cheers. The owner Norm is regularly around and Herb is usually there serving at the bar. If you’re a regular (even if you go mia for a couple years to have a couple of babies) he remembers your beverage of choice. I used to go here once a week after practice (before said babies) and I was never pressured to have more than one drink. The patio is huge and the place has great views of the river, but this place is worth going to because of the people. (Fair warning – I don’t think they’ve had a cook since covid so they don’t serve food unless Norm is cooking. You can order a pizza from right across the bridge though.)
