Social Profile:

Hooples has been a staple of downtown Bremen, Indiana since 1882, making it the fourth oldest operating bars in Indiana. Founded by Civil War veteran C.J. Hoople, it started as a simple saloon and quickly became a community gathering place. Over the decades, Hooples weathered Prohibition, the Great Depression, and two World Wars — and through it all, it never lost its welcoming, small-town charm. The original bar top still has carvings from the 1930s, a quiet reminder of the stories it’s held. Today, Hooples is known for its lively atmosphere, cold drinks, and the award-winning Hoople Burger that locals swear by. Open seven days a week, it’s a place where history and hospitality go hand in hand.

This was our first time getting burgers from here. We have heard they are good. I ordered the Juicy Lucy and was disappointed that the inside was a med rare. I didnt ask for that temp. My husbands was cooked all the way thru. Ashley was amazing on the phone for ordering and pick up! If you like the bar setting its very nice!

Jamie is a very rude woman, and not a good bartender at all. We all walked in from the bar from across the street, the bar was still open with people actively drinking, we got denied service and told that she’s not longer serving, which was fine. But we weren’t allowed to wait for our uber inside of the building? Mind you– it was 23° outside. She literally kicked us out a bar full of people, and would not allow to wait for uber, even after asking if we could wait for our ride… she told us “no, you need to leave.” Sounds to me like she’s out to get people in trouble who’ve been drinking?
It was NYE, we were awaiting our Uber ride, and didn’t want to have to stand out in the cold. She walked behind us, locked the doors and continued running her mouth (which to me seems very unprofessional) she had a very negative, unwelcoming attitude when we first arrived at the bar… we did in fact drink at this bar before we walked across the street & she did serve us? Hooples was the first bar we visited. If Jamie’s working, steer clear!!

Good small town style bar. Stop in every few years but this time the food and service went down hill. Bar tender spent most of his time with his phone in his hand. The soda from the gun was gross like the lines haven’t been cleaned in awhile. Burgers has the potential to being great if they would season the meat. Little pricey for the small portions. Sadly I dont recommend coming here anymore.

Good is great, old school feel in the atmosphere. Great bartender! Worth stopping at if you’re in the area or even making a trip for the food. Philly cheese steak and jalapeno poppers.

4 stars for good bar food, 0 for still allowing smoking. Fried pickle spears, mushrooms caps and burgers are great. Chicken wrap average. Picked up take out for a meeting, cool to see second oldest bar in Indiana. I’m from Mi so the smell of smoke was overwhelming even at 11:40 am, don’t think I could handle having a drink there even though a cool little place.

Was traveling and found this cute bar to grab something to eat. Advertised as food available but it was mostly appetizers with cold and hot sandwhiches. A bit pricey for sandwhiches. We had their fried green beans appetizer which were excellent. We had 1 philly cheese steak and 1 hamburger which came with tator tots or fries. We got charged for 1 extra ranch for beans, they only served it with 1 small ranch. The food was good but pricey and beer was 4.50 a glass. Atmosphere was great, staff friendly, might try again if in the area.
