The 1974 horror film, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, has become a stable in the South, and its film location draw fans from all around the world. It was written and directed by Austin filmmaker and University of Texas at Austin alumni, Tobe Hooper. Our building/restaurant at 1001 King Court serves as the film setting home of the deranged cannibalistic family including the notorious Leatherface himself. We’ve changed the previous Grand Central Cafe that had a railroad theme into the sleeker, Hooper’s, in honor of the legendary Texas filmmaker who passed away in 2017. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Hours subject to change, so please call if you are traveling far. Hooper’s is located across the street from The Antlers Inn.
Generous portions of American classics are served at this onetime farmhouse with a cozy ambiance.

Good experience.. our server was nice and attentive.. group of 7, and she did amazing..
Signature marg was delish.. boudin balls were good.. blt was loaded.. spicy chicken + biscuit was misleading on the menu.. thought we were going to get a chicken sammy in a biscuit, but it was a couple of tenders and a biscuit instead.. oh well..
At least out meal was comped but the disappointment remains.
Food was really good and reasonably priced.
Memorabilia from the Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie was everywhere and we really enjoyed looking….
We will definitely be back again.
The decor is most excellent. Concerning the history of the house, it would be super cool to see more of the interior.
Service was good, but an extra stop or 2 by the table throughout dinner would’ve been even better.
