Social Profile:

The 1974 horror film, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, has become a stable in the South, and its film location draw fans from all around the world. It was written and directed by Austin filmmaker and University of Texas at Austin alumni, Tobe Hooper. Our building/restaurant at 1001 King Court serves as the film setting home of the deranged cannibalistic family including the notorious Leatherface himself. We’ve changed the previous Grand Central Cafe that had a railroad theme into the sleeker, Hooper’s, in honor of the legendary Texas filmmaker who passed away in 2017. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Hours subject to change, so please call if you are traveling far. Hooper’s is located across the street from The Antlers Inn.

Generous portions of American classics are served at this onetime farmhouse with a cozy ambiance.

Went for the first time yesterday and it was awesome! Obviously came to see THE Texas Chain Saw Massacre house, wasn’t expecting much from the food, but it was all incredible. And when people talk about “southern hospitality”, the workers there are prime examples! Our servers were so kind and Marissa especially. Their dining room closes at 2 pm on Sunday and we didn’t know, but when we asked if we could walk around to see the house she gave us a tour, some fun facts, and even took pictures of us upstairs. Love this place and will be sure to make the drive from Austin as much as I can 🙂

You are at the right house! Even if you are not a TCM fan, the place has very decent food, a great open bar and outside seating. The brunch items were big enough to share and not go hungry. The staff was very friendly. For a TCM fan then this place is really cool. I will go back!

Good experience.. our server was nice and attentive.. group of 7, and she did amazing..

Signature marg was delish.. boudin balls were good.. blt was loaded.. spicy chicken + biscuit was misleading on the menu.. thought we were going to get a chicken sammy in a biscuit, but it was a couple of tenders and a biscuit instead.. oh well..

So much fun for a horror movie buff like me! Lots of cool memorabilia and the little setup upstairs was a nice bonus. The staff was friendly and everything we ate was yummy. It was worth the drive.

We had a reservation but ended up waiting 2 hours. I understand there were some last minute parties but we should not have had to wait to accommodate them. We came from out of town & drove 66 miles for my birthday dinner. I was excited to be there & this was a special night for me until it wasn’t.
At least out meal was comped but the disappointment remains.

Visited for the first time today and everything about my experience was perfect. There were 2 ladies running the place and they had it in order! One was a bartender who made delicious drinks, the other was a server who paid attention to detail when placing my order. I requested to look around the house to take pictures and the bartender went out of her way to help me out. The entire staff was extremely friendly and I will definitely be back. The food was also amazing. It was my first time trying a BLT and this place nailed it. Shoutout to those 2 ladies working around open time today! They made me feel like family and they deserve a huge raise!

My friend and I opted for 3 vegetarian options from the menu, veggie nachos, artichoke dip, and fried mushrooms. We loved everything.

The decor is most excellent. Concerning the history of the house, it would be super cool to see more of the interior.

Service was good, but an extra stop or 2 by the table throughout dinner would’ve been even better.
