Hook & Reel was absolutely delicious! It was my first time trying a seafood boil, and I’m so glad I chose this place for the experience. Our waiter was incredibly kind and helpful, and the food — especially the shrimp — was amazing! I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in Midland!

I have eaten at Hook and Reel for years. I work and live very close to the Midland Location. While it can be pricey, I have found it worth it. They especially impressed me this Valentines Day. I ordered to go. It was so busy, but my food was cooked very quickly. Exactly the way I wanted and perfectly cooked on top of it. To do that well on one of the busiest eating out dates, says a lot.

The last time I ate here the crawfish were small and the shrimp were even smaller. The portions are tiny. Then they bring you a giant bill. The food was bland and they couldn’t make an Old Fashion to save their lives. I will not be going back.

My family and I went in to eat on Saturday and had a good experience overall. Our server was very nice and helpful, and we paid our bill and tipped as usual.
While we were walking out, during a busy time with a lot of people coming in and out, a host or manager stopped us and asked if we had paid for our food. We were the only ones questioned. This has never happened to us before, and normally that’s something the server would handle.
Being stopped like that in front of other customers was embarrassing and confusing. With everything going on right now, especially in the Hispanic community, it made us feel uncomfortable and singled out. It really took away from what had been a good visit.

Hook and Reel had me feeling “REEL” good, or maybe that was the oysters.
Everything was delicious and I really appreciate the darker color scheme and twinkle lights. Much nicer feeling than the many seafood restaurants that feel like a cafeteria.

The server Kayla is very amazing ! My experience was so good I will come back and bring my family again! She did a wonderful job getting my refills without asking . And made sure we were good the entire time we were there. I recommend hook and reel to anyone.

The bathrooms were “kinda clean,” but honestly still looked sloppy with pieces of toilet paper scattered across the stall floors. It just didn’t give off a good first impression. Our waitress made the experience even worse; every time we asked for something simple, she acted annoyed, sighed loudly, and walked away with an attitude like we were bothering her The crab I ordered wasn’t any better. It came out dry, lacked flavor, and definitely wasn’t worth the price. What really topped everything off was finding out they force a $15 tip on the bill. A tip should depend on the service you receive, and with the way our waitress acted, she didn’t deserve that kind of automatic gratuity at all; the overall vibe just felt unprofessional and unwelcoming. For the price we paid, the quality and service should’ve been way better. I won’t be returning here, and honestly, I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone looking for a good dining experience.

We had a family dinner with more than six guests at Hook and Reel, and our experience was sadly marred by rude service. The waitress treated us like an inconvenience whenever we made a request like asking for cutlery as there was not any on the table when we were seated. We went without refills because she was too preoccupied with her phone. To make matters worse, the restaurant automatically added a gratuity charge for our party size, which felt unwarranted given the poor service.
While I understand that policies exist, respectful service should accompany them. The food itself was also disappointing. Due to this experience, I won’t be returning to Hook and Reel.

Flavorful seafood boils, friendly service, and lively vibe. Shrimp, crab, and crawfish always fresh and cooked right. Great sauces, fair prices, and perfect for groups. One of Midland’s best casual seafood spots.
