Hook N Ladder was recommended to us by some friends, so we visited last night. We tried the crunchy chicken, but unfortunately it wasn’t crunchy at all—it tasted like reheated grocery-store chicken strips. Had I known it would resemble microwaveable frozen chicken, I would have skipped it.

However, the fish and chips were excellent. I ended up ordering that dish to make up for the disappointing chicken. If only the chicken were cooked fresh and used the same batter as the fish and chips.

I went in a few months back as the location is one the way to my place of work.

Was surprised to find how much smaller the building really was on the inside, but through my short visit there it was interesting to see just how they were so much closer knit with a bunch of people in the community.

Kids coming out from school would pass by to get ice cream, locals would stop in for a quick order of fries, on top of all else they had a plethroa of memorabilia that really stuck with a firemans theme.

Ultimately a very homely environment with lots of menu options, everything made fresh.

First time there. Had the 1/2 cheeseburger with onion rings. Good burger . Definitely recommend this place. I’m going back to try some other menu items.

What a great throw-back to old school burger shacks! Hook and Ladder has fun theming inside, with fire truck decor and history throughout, but the food is why you’re here. I got a pastrami burger, fries, and some onion rings, and I really enjoyed each one. The bun was something else, and the fries were near perfection. This place is awesome!

Great food. They are a little slow getting your food out but this is made fresh so be patient. Very nice people. You need to come and support them.

Steak and pastrami sandwich is delicious here , their ice cream is amazing too. If you want a shake, is basically ice cream, get a spoon.

This place is great! Staff is incredibly friendly and love the theme of the firehouse. The fried pickles have the perfect amount of minimal breading, cut thin and crispy. The burgers bun is a true hero, one of the best I’ve had here in SLC. The burger itself was ok, a little well done, a little thin, maybe I missed the double option but there’s always a next time. The indoor seating is incredibly limited so I would recommend a carry out order during the cold months and patio seating looks like it would be nice during warmer months.

The ice creams looks amazing. Love the atmosphere, the vibe is great. Location is amazing. But,
The burgers are lacking hard. I would gladly pay more fore fresher ingredients. The burger patties are thin and taste and feel like pre-made frozen patties. They needed way more salt an pepper to compensate and they didnt have it really either. The bacon was fine, mushrooms and onions fantastic. My wife only ate a few bites of hers, it was really disappointing and made incorrectly.
The chicken strips are fake through and through. There’s no chicken. Its like a mashed filling. My 5 year old wont eat it.
They forgot my order of fried pickles.
They didnt have enouph churros.
Will gladly return for ice cream, and a cool vibe my kids will enjoy, but I wont be buying food here again unfortunately

Hook & Ladder Co has an amazing ambiance—it looks fantastic at first sight and really draws you in. I tried the fish and chips, and while the chips were awesome, the fish could be better. That said, it’s understandable since fresh fish isn’t readily available in Utah. Overall, the atmosphere makes it worth a visit!

Such a great restaurant in the Glendale neighborhood. I absolutely love coming here during lunch to get a cheeseburger or grilled cheese. I ordered the jalapeño burger and it was so good. It was the right amount of spicy. Also the staff here is so kind and always greet you with a smile.
