Hook Fish Co is a very good place to eat a good fish and chip with excellent fries that are well done and seasoned. The wating time is about 20-40 min on rush hours but is is worth it. There is limited parking in front of the restaurant so you will need to find street parking. There are only outside seating that is good. On the menu we highly recomend the fish and chips and the burrito. In conclusion we will definitely come back.

Hook Fish absolutely lives up to the hype. We ordered the ceviche and chips, poke and chips, poke tacos, and grilled fish tacos—and everything was sooooo fresh and incredibly delicious. This is the kind of seafood that tastes clean, bright, and straight from the ocean.
The restaurant is entirely outdoors and super charming, with quirky tables, tons of plants, and a laid-back neighborhood feel. It was a beautiful saturday, which made it the perfect setting to sit outside and enjoy fresh seafood for lunch. It’s counter service, but they do have beer and wine, which is a nice bonus.
That said, this place was absolutely slammed. Seating was tough to come by, and since it’s counter service, you’re on your own to find a spot. We ended up eating the ceviche and poke with chips while standing (no photo because we were starving), but honestly, it was still totally worth it. One small downside was that our food came out in chunks (20 mins apart) since my friend and I ordered separately, which was a bit of a bummer.
Still, the food is so good that it’s easy to see why this place is always packed. A little patience is required, but the freshness and flavor make it more than worth it. I’d happily go back—ideally with a little more time and luck snagging a table.

the fish and chips are my fave! the batter on the fish is light and airy while maintaining crunch. the fish inside is not dry however some days the fish tastes a little juicier than others (maybe it’s the cook time). it gets pretty busy so the seating is often taken, come with at least another person so someone can get a seat while the other gets the food for a better experience!

First time trying this place. Went there on a Monday early evening (5pm). Little wait, but there are couple of people enjoying their food.

I orderd Fish and Chips, and it was good! Crispy batter and juicy fish. The included chips are seasoned perfectly!

Overall, I want to try them again and enjoy the atmosphere 🙂

Hook Fish Co. is a cool little counter-style spot with outdoor seating and a fun, lively vibe. I got the fish and chips with black cod—you can choose any of their fish to be battered, which is awesome. The batter was super crispy, seasoned perfectly, and the fish just melted in my mouth. They also have a habanero carrot salsa that you have to try—it adds a sweet heat that takes the fish to the next level. Overall, really great spot for fresh seafood. I loved the fish and chips and definitely want to come back to try their fish burrito—it looked amazing

Excellent fish and chips and many other seafood dishes served in a hole-in-the-wall place.

It’s hugely popular but the wait is not too bad. You can see the ingredients refrigerated drawers if you stand close enough to the side counter. The gentlemen working the fryer and the grill really know what they are doing.

Long wait but worth it. We got the grilled fish plate and the grilled burrito. Habanero carrot sauce was tasty. Limited seating. We walked over to the bluffs and ate by a tree. Cute shop across the street while we waited

Hook Fish was at the top of my San Francisco food list, and it absolutely lived up to the hype—we ended up going twice in 48 hours! The fish and chips were perfect, the fish sandwich was next-level, and the fish tacos? Unreal. We also grabbed the chips and guac, which were simple but insanely fresh, and I’m still thinking about their French fries!

The staff was super friendly, and the whole vibe just feels like pure coastal California with a little San Francisco twist. You might have to wait for a table or eat along the perimeter outside, but trust me—it’s worth it. When I say fresh, I mean fresh… we literally walked up as someone was unloading fish straight out of a pickup. Couldn’t recommend this place more! If you miss this place, you’ll regret it.

Be prepared to have longer than you’re used to wait times, but the food is fresh and worth it! The folks there work hard – so just be patient. Weekends are busiest but it’s nice to see the hustle and bustle. Have a burrito with the fish of the day and an agua fresca with pulpy juice and sit outside on a sunny day – then go across the street to check out the bookstore and grab a delicious latte and sweet treat. Makes for a leisurely enjoyable weekend afternoon!

I don’t go to SF often because the parking was so terrible! We went out for girls night and chose here as many people recommended! The day of the fish is Rockfish! We love the taco, burritos and salad! We ordered again after we took the 1st round, 2nd round we ordered fish plate. Actually we don’t need to order salad as the fish plate has salad too! Be smart! If you saw many people got the yellow drink, thats the pineapple taste drink (forgot the exactly name) that’s maybe you can order water melon. Be honestly, not the drink I am into. Anyway! Good place for catch up with your friends. So chill, so relax, not one judge you if you eat taco like Chinese! lol

Ok! After this, walk over to the cross street, visit black bird bookstore and grabs some books and small items. Check on the review and you will see my post! Enjoy this dinner place!
