The chicken, fish and fries are all good. Biggest complaint is that even if you order online, it’s been my experience that the order isn’t started until you or the delivery driver arrives. When picking up myself, I’ve had to wait 10-15 minutes after arrival even though I put in the order 20 minutes before arrival.

Food is good but they don’t read instructions. If you put a note they don’t read it. I put “no coleslaw extra fries and no seasoning” which is the stuff they sprinkle on top, I arrived and the sprinkling was on top and there was coleslaw. I was like “ok that’s just a first time thing” then I just picked up my order again right now and it said “no sprinkling seasoning, no coleslaw and extra fries” guess what? There’s coleslaw and the only reason why there was no seasoning on top was because I told her before it was done, I arrived before my order was done and verbally told her but of course there’s still coleslaw. The daughter and son are the only ones who read instructions. The two older people who I assume to be the parents do not read nothing. Read the instructions!!!! Edit: forgot that each time I also put “a lot of hot sauce” and both times there was no hot sauce in the bag so I had to go in and verbally ask for it.

First of all let me say I was looking for a “spot” like this since I got in town. I always get fried lake perch when I’m in the north. I’m giving 4 stars just because it was not the same taste as I get back home in GR. Back home they season with malt vinegar and hot sauce and special seasoning. Here it had their special seasoning which was pretty good. I think freshly battered mushrooms would be fire too instead of the frozen. Most of the weekend I was settling for cod. Cod is what most of the restaurants I visited were serving. So finding hook fish and chicken was on point. I will definitely be back and try some other things on the menu.

I’m a truck driver from Alabama, I was skeptical when I walked in. How my first judgement was WRONG. This is some of the best fried fish I’ve had in a long time. It was well work the 12min from the Flying J to here to pick it up. There is plenty of room for truck parking. Don’t judge but just enjoy.

This is a good little take out place in Youngstown. I will say there have been multiple times people who came in and ordered after me got their food before me. She’s never particularly nice to me either.
Regardless the food is good. The seasoning she sprinkles on top is delicious. The chickens always nice and crispy, the perch, catfish and cod are always perfect. It’s a large portion of food.
I do love this place I just don’t frequent as much as I would if I didn’t feel like she was bothered by my business.

Around an hour ago I brought chicken tenders and fries. I was expecting to go home and smash my meal cause I love hookfish. The tenders I got though were burnt. I was so mad. I called them up and made them aware of my current order. He apologized to me and remade the whole order which I was most appreciative of cause it cost me $12.99 for the 4 pc meal and I love hookfish whenever I do go there. The quality of the meal is normally great and that is why I don’t mind paying the price I paid. Thanks hookfish.

They trippin! This place makes terrible wings. The shrimp is fair, but they gave me a dead one that must have been from days ago. Fries were ok. Sauces are small like a joke! Then they charge $1 each for additional sauce. When I say small, i mean narrow and short and no you can’t dip a wing, only a couple fries, small. And what is that powdery stuff on the wings? Smelled funny. Too much money for the 4 meals I bought. No one was happy. One of us got sick. The last time I tried their soggy fish. Two times is enough to say do not eat here

Hook Fish & Chicken was good. I got the catfish nuggets and fried shrimp with fries. I enjoyed the meal and it stays open reasonably late.
