It was great. They have a good variety on their menu. We enjoyed it Thoroughly,.I had the pork chop, which was delicious. My wife had the turkey Burnt ends was delicious. My only hesitation was the sweet potato fries. They came out cold first they brought another stuff out and they came out hot, but very tough so other than that it was great And we will return. Service was great. Food was great.

I fell in LOVE with this place about 4 years ago after stopping by after picking out a Christmas tree at Penlands Tree Farm… and have thought about it with reverence ever since..
A quaint run little restaurant with amazingly delectable food with a not so big dining room and a small bar off that… But size doesn’t equal quality… this place may not be huge but it packs a mean punch..
located near downtown York, and nestled among beautiful historic homes this place has such a wonderful laid back atmosphere and friendly staff to make your meal and experience definitely something to remember.. like I said, I’ve thought about it many times in 4 years and I will start to make this an annual tradition. Not what I expected when I walked in but definitely a very enjoyable lunch! I was expecting a little more upscale place with the name, but it was perfect because I’m not a super upscale kind of guy!! Staff were great and attentive!! Food was amazing and came out really fast. Definitely an awesome place to eat!!

Absolutely fantastic. This place is literally perfect. Cute, clean, warm and inviting, and literally some of the best food I have had in a long long time. And the prices are reasonable. Now, I did get the most expensive thing on the menu, but at $40, that ribeye was worth double that price. Perfectly cooked and tender!! The side are unique and different and so so delicious. My husband got the sirloin, and it was delicious as well! And my son said they have his favorite French fries and he is a connoisseur of French fries! And my little girl absolutely destroyed the mozzarella sticks! One of the owners (who is 7 feet tall) came by to see how we were doing and he was one of the nicest people we have ever met. We will be back again and again!! We love supporting locally owned places and this delectable restaurant gets all the brownie points!!! Come eat here!!!!

I’m not one to really write reviews especially not bad ones..but I really felt the need to share our experience tonight.
Beyond disappointed. After reading and seeing such great reviews, my girlfriend and I decided to go try this place… ohh boy I wish we never did. Drove 30+ minutes and ended up, not even eating dinner. We ate our sub par mozzarella sticks and paid $16(with tip) we got there and there was no wait, several open tables(maybe needed to be wiped down) but they said give us a minute were getting a table cleaned up for you.. a min later we were brought to out table. This is when things started to go downhill. Out of All the tables we could have been seated at we were given a very small table, against the wall, next to the kitchen, where EVERYONE was walking by (several times I almost got hit by people passing due to having no room) I’m a bigger guy and was against the wall still having my arm and leg hanging over the other end of the table. We decided to not say anything and sat there. Our server came and introduced herself and gave us some time to decided what we wanted. she came back when we were ready to order. Originally we were thinking about getting multiple things to try but due to the lack of room on the small table, we just got mozzarella sticks for an appetizer, I ordered the jalapeño burger and my girlfriend ordered the fish n chips(we were told they just ran out) she ended up just getting a burger also. The burgers were extremely overcooked and dry, lacking any flavor..I’ve had better frozen burger patties. I was given about half the amount of French fries than my girlfriend. I dont even know what to say about her burger.. the onion was like 1 big shaving of the outside of an onion and it looked like the last bit of a tomato was thrown on there. It was just unbelievable how unimpressive the food quality was.. but wait it gets better.. so after our waitress sees we have literally only taken a bite of our food she asked if everything was good. We kindly let her know that we did not want the burgers and explained our issues and concerns. She was nice and apologetic. She said let me get those removed from your bill and I’ll get the manager. She came back out with a bill for just the mozzarella stick ($10.90 for 6) took my card and payment.. then brought it back with a receipt for me to sign… no manager ever came to talk with us. The ONLY thing I can confidently say was GOOD was the ranch dressing. Will NOT be back again.

Last night my friends took me out to dinner to celebrate my birthday and it was a great experience. Our waitress Emma was fabulous and made sure we had everything we needed. The owner Ms. Nicolette came over and spoke as well. Food, drinks, and atmosphere was wonderful.It was my first time going to Hoof and Barrel but I will definitely be back.

Hoof & Barrel located at 122 N Congress St, York, SC 29745 is a fantastic local Steak and Hamburger Restaurant. It’s under new ownership, and the owners really care about giving a great experience here, as did the previous owner. I had the 10oz Flank Steak which was both tender and very flavorful. Mrs. had the Salad with fried chicken pieces which were really good!
Service was great, and their prices also are very good. It’s not a pricey place. Dessert brownie with ice cream was great too. The restaurant was busy, but fortunately we were able to get a table walking in without waiting. It did fill up. I’m betting that their Hamburgers are fantastic and look forward to trying them soon.

Stopped by here for lunch, first time being here. Atmosphere was nice, but food was not seasoned well. Pictures are of Jaliopano Burger and Taylor Swiss burger. Appetizer is the fried mushrooms. Service sucked, had to ask someone else to get order taken.
