Great fresh rolls and sushi. I highly recommend the squid rolls – an unusual serving and an interesting combination of flavors. There were not many people during lunch on Monday. The food was prepared quickly and delicious.

Food is ok, but felt ignored when sitting outside. And it took so long to get the sushi

I had the Sosaku Sushi and it was delightful. All the fish was fresh and delicious. Had the mochi ice cream for dessert, very good!

What an amazing and authentic restaurant. Really great fresh food, exactly like you get in any restaurant in Japan. Speaking from experience. Loved it. Defo going back soon.

I genuinely love every single thing about this place. Emma was our server and I hope when we come back, we get her again. She was efficient, had great communication, and super, super sweet. She was also very accommodating. Honestly the food here was affordable: we got 4 drinks (we came during happy hour), spicy mayo, 3 rolls, and two bowls of soba for $130(tax included). I definitely intend on coming back. Thank you Honshu and our amazing waitress Emma. We desperately needed a good night and she ensured that for the both of us 🙂

Unfortunately the quality of food is inconsistent. Sometimes its the freshest fish and everything tastes great, but sometimes the fish has fishy stale taste and you never know what you get today. All the rolls I had today went to the trash. So much for the 50$ order.

Guys! This is NOT good sushi! I’ve had airport sushi better than this. The fish isn’t fresh and it’s even harder than the rice that’s already harder than brown rice from Chipotle… There’s even bones in one of the sashimi… Someone please help me understand why this place charges so much for a Whole Food sushi – which btw just get it from whole foods you’ll like it a lot more than what’s offered here – even the miso soup is wrong. Service is okay…which is the only redeeming quality of this joint.

I’ve followed them through two locations and consistently the best in Jersey City for sushi… Fresh always..I’ve done both take-out and dining in. They are consistent with service and quality of food each time. My wife Celiac Annie requires gluten free options and they have many naturally gluten free options. In addition, certain dishes can be altered to accommodate. This has been my favorite sushi spot for 10+ years.

My girlfriend and I dined in at Honshu for the first time tonight. You know how a lot of sushi places are barebones places with those sticky black tables and menus that look like they get cleaned with a dirty rag every once in a while? Well, this one isn’t one of those places! Immediately upon entry, it’s set aside by its elegant, yet casual atmosphere. This place is on the second floor of a building in downtown JC, so it’s extra special that there’s also an outdoor section. It let us sit outside in the fresh air without feeling like we’re in the middle of traffic.

Edit: downgrading to 1 star. Salmon rolls delivered were made with throwaway cuts of salmon. Chewy pieces closer to the fish’s tail. Ordered on 07/17/2023
