Great food, excellent service, very clean. Tasty, hot and carefully prepared food.
Recently improved, chicken is tasty, water tastes pure from a charcoal filter. The salad rolls had basil and lemongrass, the pineapple fried rice was well prepared and delicious, pad see eww was scrumptious. Great service, very impressed.
Recommend the yellow curry with chicken, pad see ew, and Tom kha soup. The deep fried pot stickers are a savory treat.
Ideal is takeout with 15 minute call ahead order. It’s a small place, but dine in is usually fine for smaller groups.
The nice service and fine cooks really make this a diamond in the rough.

I’ve been in Salem a lot for business over the last couple of years yet hadn’t tried this restaurant. It’s not fancy but it’s clean and comfortable. The crab rangoon is the best I’ve ever had – I assume that it’s homemade. The orange chicken is goo, too. Service has been good.

I haven’t been to Hong Thai in a while and remembered their food being extremely good so I ended up picking some up. The first red flag should have been the worker filling my Thai iced tea to the brim with ice legit had to tell the employee to take out half of it after that I didn’t even bother checking the food until I got home
I kid you not my beef was burnt as hell and mom’s plate wasn’t even halfway filled. I took the food back and started talking to the employee but he wasn’t having it. He said he wanted to prove it was the normal amount of food so he pulled out a plate and poured it out. Not even half the plate was filled there was more soup than anything else. It was supposed to be chicken broccoli btw. The place next door was better. Ps it costed 34 dollars

Not a busy place at all, environment just like some fast food restaurant and average food price are okay too. The menu just some normal menu you can find in any Thai restaurants, they do have their special, Kong Pao Mango… I’m not sure about that tho…
Well just got it done and actually it’s pretty good! Taste way more better than a lot of Thai restaurants and give you a big amount of the food 🙂

The floor was sticking. The service was very average, and distracting. She continue to play things on her phone and switch it up there was no music in the actual service area. My career was good I had the green Curry. Pop stickers were average. Overcooked.

Hong Thai was my go to restaurant for over a year, I went at least once a week but often times more than that. Portions were good, flavor was there and I bragged about them to all my co workers and friends. Since covid hit I would only use them via GrubHub and then they weren’t on the app anymore so I didnt eat their food for a few months. Fast forward to now, I ordered the other day for pick up and my Tom Kha soup was a single slice of chicken, a giant piece of lemongrass, and a couple cherry tomatoes cut in half(it used to be packed with vegetables and actual slices of quartered tomatoes) I felt like ok this must be just an anomaly. A few days passed and I ordered soup #3 Kum Low Nuer? which is a beef and garlic soup that has broccoli and bean sprouts with spinach…the soup I received had some chicken and a clear broth with some spinach, so I called and they told me thats what I ordered but its just a $10 soup so I let it go even though I ordered that soup many many times and know that’s nowhere near what it is supposed to be. Today, I ordered for my last time just to see if maybe the dinner service and cook may be better as I only ordered the soups for lunch. It was not! I ordered the Mongolian Beef medium spicy which comes with fried cabbage, jalapeños, carrots, broccoli and a generous serving of beef…what I received is maybe half the size of what they had always served before, the cabbage and broccoli are crunchy and clearly undercooked and the food has no spice and a flavor is very bland with barely any beef at all. I would have given this restaurant 5 stars every day of the week, it is sad that they have fell off as much as they have. The only reason I gave them 2 stars now is because I loved this restaurant so much since the day they opened. Hopefully they figure it out because they were really really good and my last 3 visits have been absolute trash for what you pay. Best of luck to them, but i can’t foresee ever going again.
Update: After a couple years to work out the kinks, I will definitely never go again. Seen a high rating and hoped it was the Hong Thai of several years ago. They were the best and I ate there a ridiculous amount of times. Sadly, they may honestly be worse than before. I ordered Mongolian beef, medium spicy. What I received was little amount of vegetables, a couple chunks of bland flavorless meat, and ZERO JALAPENOS…. but I did get a bowl of water that i am assuming was just used to de-glaze the pan. This is a house special. Going straight in the garbage. What a joke. Pictures give it too much justice, never again!

Wish I could give it 10 stars. Staff was amazing, the place was spotless, and the food was on point. Absolutely amazing flavors! It’s a must visit. They give you enough food for two people. Can’t wait to go back.
