The food tasted bland and had no flavor at all. I ordered chicken chop suey and chicken chow mein and what I got was not that at all. Cashew chicken was totally flavorless. Don’t order from these people. I used to get food from a same name restaurant in Mundelein and thought they had moved. However, this is a totally different place with the same name. How deceitful!

I don’t know what just happened. I’ve been ordering from HKCS for years and years, and it’s always been really good. When family comes from out of town in the summer, we often order and it’s always been amazing. Yesterday I ordered a Sweet and Sour Chicken lunch special with extra egg rolls. There’s something weird and disgusting smelling in the egg rolls suddenly. My whole house smells of it- I’m not sure if the cook accidentally dumped all the umami flavoring, or is it a new shrimp paste?? It’s gross, my hands smell of it, my whole house smells of it (and it’s been nearly 24 hours), I had to take the egg rolls straight out to the garbage. I’m bummed, usually their egg rolls are the best around. I won’t be eating their Chinese food any time soon. I hope they change back to the way they used to make their egg rolls.

My family and I have been coming here for a long time, at least 10 years. The quality of the food is disgusting now… not like how things used to be. We just ordered the Mongolian Beef, Orange Chicken, and Garlic Chicken for dinner, the food was not good. The chicken was soggy and basically only crust. The Mongolian beef gravy is watery and doesn’t taste like Mongolian beef. Garlic chicken didn’t taste right either. My family and I decided that we are not going to purchase food from here anymore.

I walked past this place a few mins ago and I looked inside the window, and I noticed a fish tank with at least one live fish in it- swimming in absolute filth. Fish are living beings and they deserve clean water to swim in. I hope someone here takes care of this immediately. Otherwise I’ll take the fish off your guys’ hands.

Previously left a 5 star review, however I am changing that now. This afternoon (2/26/26) I found multiple bugs which appear to be maggots in my order of broccoli beef. I reported this to the store and received a refund. I will not be eating here ever again and feel the need to share my experience today. I am disgusted.

No frills takeout only. Unfriendly staff. Tried for the 1st time and got fried rice that was burnt with black scrambled eggs. Completely inedible and smelled burned.

This is probably my favorite Chinese place in the area. Has delicious food and fantastic portions. What more do I need to say? Staff could definitely be nicer but irrelevant when it comes to what you’re actually eating. I definitely will go back.

Very bad food its like your eating plastic rice not to mention the service I think of there is lower then level 1 I wouldev used it.
Spend $50 and the food went to garbage.
