Tried the king prawn dry chow mein. Prawns were suspiciously decent, plump, fresh, and not the usual chewy freezer dice you learn to tolerate around here. Unfortunately, this is Lockleaze, so expect the usual background chaos, someone loudly threatening to “bang someone out” over a lighter, a cloud of Lynx Africa, and a Vauxhall Astra doing 12mph laps with a speaker hanging on by a thread. Possibly someone rehearsing their Job Centre story in the queue. But I digress.
The chow mein was actually great, no gloopy sauce, just well-cooked noodles with good wok flavour, seasoned properly, and not drowned in oil. The prawns held up, and the veg still had crunch, which, frankly, was more than I expected.
Fast, affordable, and I didn’t hate myself afterwards. In Lockleaze terms, that’s basically fine dining.

We ordered theough their website. Value is great compared to what you’ll find listed on Deliveroo or Uber eats. The delivery was quick too. The lady on the phone was friendly when I called with a question.
We got black bean sauce beef, prawn toast, crab claws, satay tofu, Singapore vermicelli and prawn chow mein. Everything was tasty and piping hot. Great portion sizes too. We have plenty left and feel very filled and satisfied. It was only around £32 with the delivery and came with free prawn crackers and dipping sauce too.
First time ordering from here but it won’t be the last. We are very happy (just make sure you’re not in your pyjamas when they ring you that they’re outside because they hand it to you from the car so you have to do a bit of a walk of shame in your jammies like I did haha!)
Sad to see ratings at 3.9, it deserves more 🙂

The service was extremely fast and prices made sense.

Friendly quick service and the food was so yummy and sauce portions were generous. We had sweet sour chicken balls, won tons, prawn toast, egg fried rice and a spring roll. Much better compared to others I’ve tried in the area. Will definitely be back! Chinese takeaways seem to vary a lot on reviews depending on what people prefer so definitely give it a go if you’re not sure.

There were bits of chicken in with my tofu dish. I’m a vegetarian so don’t eat chicken. When I called to get a replacement delivered the woman was extremely aggressive, shouted at me and called me a liar.

This is my local Chinese takeaway and aside from the prices rising a lot over the last few years (like everywhere else), I can’t fault it at all for any of the Chinese food they serve. Everything is well seasoned and the portions are good. The English food though like chips or sausages leave a bit to be desired but are perfectly acceptable for what you get. The lady serving here is also really friendly and greets me and my partner with a big hello every time we go in.
I would definitely recommend this as one of the better takeaways in Bristol – and even though things have clearly dipped a bit since Covid – I will continue to eat here whenever I can.

Surprised to see the relatively low rating. We’ve been getting food from here occasionally for the last few years and found it to be easily the most reliable Chinese in the area and one of the best. I don’t think we’ve had a bad meal yet. We do normally collect rather than use Uber eats (too slow!) so the food is fairly hot and fresh, which probably explains some of the bad reviews.
