This was a wonderful experience. Great meal. I love being at the chef’s counter and watching everything. Chef River & TJ were a delight. Ingredients were very high quality, everything was seasoned really well. I appreciate that it’s a prepay situation and all tips / service is included. As someone who doesn’t drink alcohol though I feel a little cheated. I do wish it was lower price for non alcohol option. It makes sense economically and many patrons requested additional pours of the paired alcohol. Which is great and awesome. But there didn’t seem to be as much thought on the NA pairings. Lemonade with sticky toffee pudding? Really? No coffee?
The chef introduced it like a dinner party and I really felt that vibe. I loved hearing about the dishes and ingredients. Always love seeing them prepared also.
It was a great experience and if I’m ever in the area I would definitely do it again.

EXCELLENCE SHOULD ALWAYS BE REWARDED! I can’t believe I didn’t write this back in January. I did a lot of research on restaurants in Charleston prior to our trip for my birthday dinner. This restaurant isn’t the easiest to find online and we almost opted for one of the more well known, popular establishments.
Once I found out about Honeysuckle Rose, there was something that resonated and it didn’t let me or my wife, 3 brothers and 2 spouses down.
Everything that came out of the kitchen was prepared in a way that was creative, and with full balanced flavors that highlighted the main component of the dish. There was even one item that neither my wife or I like, having tried it many different ways, and they made it absolutely craveable.
The wine pairings were excellent, all elected to compliment and enhance the dishes.
The room was cozy with fun art and music that helps tell the story of the hosts. That is a story of fun, passion, food and drink that comes together in a dinner party like no other.
We will go back to Charleston, and we will try other great restaurants there, but we WILL DEFINITELY GO BACK TO HONEYSUCKLE ROSE.

This is a truly remarkable dining experience. The showmanship, service, and food were unmatched!!! We really enjoyed talking with the staff and chefs – we sat at the bar area overlooking the kitchen. Highly recommend trying this fine establishment. I’m very surprised this restaurant hasn’t earned a Michelin star…

I had a splendid time at Honeysuckle Rose last night! It was such a unique experience with the 8 course tasting, the food was delicious and very good quality, loved the different combinations of ingredients, and the service of everyone there was hospitable & friendly. Loved the coziness of the small dining room. Highly recommend this place!

I’ve had many tasting menus over the years at several Michelin restaurants. The meal we had at honeysuckle rose was among the best I’ve ever had. The courses are pretty traditional and not too adventurous which was nice since every dish is a classic paring (beef with mushrooms, duck with plums, etc). They know what they are doing and do it well. Each course is only 4-5 bites but at the end you are full without being stuffed. I thought the portions and courses were paced perfectly. I can think of some of the best dishes I’ve had in my life and the A5 Wagyu course with mushrooms would be easily be top 5. The overall meal would rank above some 2 star Michelin meals I’ve had.

The vibes were excellent but I would recommend sitting at a table and not the chefs counter. At the counter it feels like everything is happening behind you and the other couple there was unpleasant to say the least. The servers and hostesses went out of their way to ensure everything went as smoothly as possible and got us moved to a table.

The wines were very good and I’m not usually a white wine drinker. The pours are enough to make you feel good but you won’t be leaving feeling over served. They really ensure that goes well. If I had to nitpick anything it would be that some of the pairings felt slightly disjointed. While I enjoyed all the wines on their own I didn’t think the courses and wines always highlighted each other.

Other reviews mentioned how the evening really feels like a dinner party and I agree. The tables around us were very social and great to talk to and it was nice to celebrate with the other diners who had come to restaurant to commemorate a special occasion.

If I could give this experience 10 stars I would. I wanted to treat myself to a nice dining experience for my 33rd birthday and I’m SO glad I decided to come here. The last tasting menu experience I had was at a 1 Michelin star in Italy so I tried not to keep my hopes too high but I was excited.

Before you show up, you get several texts and then a phone call to ask if you prefer still or sparkling water which I’ve never been asked prior.

I was greeted by a lovely hostess at the front door to check in and get walked to my seat at the chef’s counter. I was sitting in between 2 people and to my surprise the lady next to me was the owner’s sister.
The place is so cute, low lighting and the decor was chic and sexy. The bathrooms are some of the coolest and nicest I’ve ever been in. (make sure you try both )

There’s a card with my name on it and inside you find the menu which I thought was super personable and cute. Before they started service, the owners Kelleanne and Ryan came out with their team and just shared some words and then the Sommelier poured our first glass of champagne

Each chef took turns before each course talking about the dish and the intention behind it as well as the somm for each wine poured.

I cannot begin to describe how intuitive the service was, seamless and utter perfection. The attention to detail was impressive. In between courses you see the ENTIRE team working together in the back – polishing glassware and silverware, garnishing, dropping off dishes and all working together. Getting to see the owners assist in all of that was humbling to see that they were not above doing the tedious work and that they lead by example.

Each course was perfect and paired with delicious selections of wine. I didn’t think I would get full from this dinner because they were small tasting portions but man by course 6 I was getting close. First of all, I’ve never had a popover and holy cow it was delicious! She even packed a handful for me Togo as an extra bday touch! So thoughtful!
The BEST thing ever was the slices of buttery, melt in your mouth first time ever served there – Japanese A5 Wagyu.

At the end they brought out these mini cupcakes with candles for all the guests celebrating all things including me. They really know how to make you feel special. We also all got to leave with their special chocolate covered Oreos made by grandma which was a nice touch.

They really know how to create a memorable experience and they made you feel like family. A plus was the bomb playlist that Kelleanne played during dinner. I thorough enjoyed myself and this in fact took first over my Michelin experience in Italy. I loved every aspect of it and it’s totally worth every penny! I will be back with hubby! Thank you to the entire team!

We accidentally showed up to Honeysuckle Rose an hour early (yes, really) and instead of awkwardly turning us away, the owner graciously insisted on driving us to their sister restaurant for drinks and appetizers — on her. She made sure we were taken care of, then had us picked up and brought back right on time for our reservation. Who does that?

What followed was one of the most thoughtful dining experiences we’ve ever had. In an intimate 30-seat setting, the chef personally introduced each course — sharing what it meant to him and why he created it — while the sommelier explained every pairing with equal care. They even welcomed guests back into the kitchen to talk with the team. It felt less like dinner and more like being invited into someone’s passion project.

If you value extraordinary food served by people who take their craft seriously (but not themselves), stop what you’re doing and book a reservation. Honeysuckle Rose is something special

Superb. We celebrated new years. What an experience. The wine pairings were decadent. The staff was the best I’ve ever seen. The chefs blew it out of the water. I wish we lived in Charleston to be able to return often. Great experience!

Everything about our meal was impressive. The care and thought they put into the food and atmosphere was top level. They were also so accommodating with food preferences. Unreasonable hospitality. Thank you for an incredible meal and evening.
