My only complaint is that we don’t have a Honey Pig near me back home! But hey… a 3 hour drive is a lot better than the 6 hours we drove for all you can eat crab!
Price is by food so it’s always best to have multiple people to split the bill!! Aside from the 4 meats we got, we also ordered a seafood pancake, ddeoboki, and some soju. Total was just under $200 so divided by 4 people, $50 per person which was good for the amount of food we got.
As always their food is great, we got the small intestines, pork belly, brisket, and bulgogi.
As a free service, we got the steamed egg and soybean stew (ddwenjang jigae).
Only complaint I had was that one of our servers (older female) was rude and condescending to someone in my group and myself. She was upset that when we ordered we spoke “too fast.” We spoke quite slow and pointed at the pictures as well. She didn’t have a note pad and honestly looked like she zoned out. She scolded my friend in Korean (we had been communicating in Korean the whole time too) and made her uncomfortable. She was scared to make any other orders that night. When the same server came back to check on our meat, I was dancing happily to the kpop music (the TV was right behind me). She then scolded me and was laughing saying “back in our day we couldn’t do such a thing” and told me to sit still and eat. Honestly most of our time was eating while hoping to avoid her coming to our table. Fortunately it was such a busy night we had another female server come intermittently. She was a super kind lady who we looked forward to seeing as she was not at all condescending and quite sweet with us. We loved her.
I almost never have an issue with honey pig or their employees but goodness did this lady make the experience awful. We legit tiptoed around her mood despite us being civilized and polite. I realized she scared us all when the loud busy establishment felt quiet as she spoke to us. Turns out my whole table froze immediately during conversation and she popped up to flip the meat, fortunately it was quick and she didn’t say anything to us. It was absolutely ridiculous how nervous we were around her.
Anyways, I wouldn’t take this one experience and replace it with all the good ones as the food, atmosphere, and overall service is still amazing.
The restaurant has a warm, clean, and energetic atmosphere that makes it a great spot for both family meals and group gatherings. The staff is attentive and friendly, checking in often and helping with grilling when needed, which makes the experience enjoyable even for first-time Korean BBQ diners.
Portions are generous, prices are reasonable for the quality, and everything is served promptly. Overall, Grill BBQ Korean Restaurant consistently delivers delicious food, great service, and a fun dining experience. Definitely a place worth coming back to.
Service was not too great as it was quite busy and they seemed understaffed. The hostess couldn’t be at the counter half the time because they were also busy helping with waiting tables.
We had 2 waitresses helping us, our original one was sweet and just trying to do her job while juggling all her other tables. But the second one assisting her was rude at times. We weren’t sure if the steamed egg side was included in our order so we asked her if she knew if it was coming. She responded by pointing at the other tables and raised her voice saying, “do you see how many tables we have??” We were only trying to ask because we didn’t know and we weren’t trying to rush her either. It felt like she took out her anger on us as customers because they couldn’t handle the capacity.
Other than her, the others were just trying their best. We just ate and got out of there pretty quickly since the environment was pretty chaotic and they couldn’t wait on us much.
When looking at the menu, it is stated that auto-gratuity is given to tables of 5 or larger, but unfortunately this is a deception. My friends and I look very young for our age, and when we split the bill we noticed that it was much much higher than it should’ve been. The bill without gratuity was around $150, but our split, individual checks were stating that the total bill with tip would’ve been close to $230. We asked for the entire check (not the split checks) to see why this was the case, and we realized that auto-gratuity was on our check. We double-checked the menu, which stated that auto-gratuity was only for tables of 5 or larger, but did not want to make it difficult for the servers so we didn’t bring it up to them.
I was really hurt when finding this out because I used to really enjoy coming to this place, and we were not notified at all about the auto-gratuity when we got our split checks. We will not be coming here again which is really a shame, but I refuse to go to a place where I am being deceived. If the servers just pick and choose when to give auto-gratuity based off of the table they are serving, this should be known to all the customers that spend their money here!
