Had seen them on social media and food looked really good. Came down after work and tried the prime rib dip with sweet potato fries and an open faced turkey sandwich. The prime rib sandwich was very tasty and tender and the dip was flavorful. The turkey sandwich was good but would have liked if it was carved turkey rather than sliced turkey but overall was still tasty. Staff was friendly and helpful and food was prepared quickly. Place has a nice cozy ambiance.

I live in Los Angeles and got sent to work in Bakersfield and I got recommended this place to eat and it did not disappoint. I ordered the chicken fried steak and it was big! Service was good and fast. Highly recommend this place.

Drove from LA to eat their massive chicken fried steak. It was delicious. If you’re a chicken fried steak lover this place is a must try. Service was great. Our first visit since it became Honey I’m Home and what an improvement! Our server, Christina, was polite and attentive! The size of country fried steak is HUGE! The food was good but steak and hash browns were bland. Adding salt helped immensely! The biscuit was not as large as others diners but gravy flavor was wonderful with chunks of sausage. Eggs were cooked perfectly, exactly as ordered. Hashbrowns were cooked very well, but again needed salt. The waffle was also wonderful!

My husband and I have been there twice so far. We live in the Southwest so it’s a bit of a drive, but the food, the service, and the relaxed environment is so very worth the drive!! The portions are huge! I had breakfast for dinner which was awesome!!! So much food I couldn’t even finish it all!! And I can put the grub away!! My husband had the chicken fried steak, it was massive, but he managed to eat it all!! Couldn’t believe it! The ladies that took care of us, on both visits, were very friendly, down to earth, and had great senses of humor!! Had great, warm personalities!! Next time we will be taking our daughter, her hubbie and my new granddaughter! They live on the Eastside so it’s a short drive, and she’s been dying to try it out!!! If I coulda given them more than 5 stars I would have!!!

Been wanting to go to this place for a while. So we went today. Didn’t mine the wait. We sat in the patio which was ok. But after that, service was not ok. The waitress was nowhere to be seen. Just to drop of our food and at the end we were finished.

We were both pleasantly surprised by our first visit to this restaurant. It was around 7:30 pm so it wasn’t busy.
The food was ample and tasty — a French dip sandwich with a chili side, and a big Cobb salad.
There were some TV screens which were streaming vintage shows. The screens visible to us showed old “Our Gang” episodes and original “Star Trek” episodes. Both were muted, but had readable subtitles.
The waiter was a middle-aged gentleman (possibly an owner?). He was very friendly and attentive. After we ate, he personally put our leftover food in “to-go” containers — something that rarely happens.
We both decided that we will visit again to try other items on the extensive menu, which includes breakfast meals at any hour. Unfortunately they close at 9:00pm — unlike Cindy’s restaurant, which was a 24-hour restaurant at this location for many years. It closed in 2018.

This hidden gem was such a pleasure to experience. My best friend told me about this place so I finally made the time to go and have NO regrets since. I can honestly say that this place provides EXCELLENT service. They greet you from the moment you walk in, and make sure that your glasses always have coffee, tea, soda or water. The food is fresh and always delicious. The first time I tried the french toast I had to stop and soak in the memories of when my mom and grandma made it for me as a kid. It truly brought back so many good memories. This has quickly become my favorite local diner to grab food from and just relax. I promise you will not be disappointed!!
