Stopped by their location at Industry City. The food here is still as good as their location in Red Hook. The meats were super tasty and moist. The Mac and Cheese is incredible. Highly recommended.

Brisket was dry and tough but had decent flavor. Pulled pork was definitely a win, moist tender and well seasoned. Mac was creamy but flavorless. You have to purchase everything separately which is weird. I’ve never been to a BBQ place that doesn’t include pickles or cornbread but hey ‍♀️ potato salad is just a tangy mashed potatoes. The sandwiches are probably better but I wont be back to find out. Atmosphere was pretty dead for a Friday night. Minimal interaction from staff, not the place to expect friendly engaging service.

The brisket was very dry and too much sauce on it and the Fried Chicken sandwich was extremely greasy and no flavor. 2 of the worst sandwiches we ever had. The sides were very good. We had French fries, Cole slaw and delicious Corn Bread. It was the best thing we ate. It’s basically self service and they want you to tip? Cmon now. Never going back again

I tried this place around the time it opened and though it was great. This time around I was so disappointed. Brisket was dry and too greasy at the same time, coleslaw was just too much mayo and corn bread was too dry crumbling off before I can put it into ny mouth. Many tables were left filthy. I ended up having stomach pain.

I am an avid BBQ fanatic. Brisket especially. Theres an art to cooking it a certain way that you can only taste. This is the best Brisket in NYC the bark the Red ring of smoke penetrating the meat…. Ive only tatsted that flavor in the south. The owner here brought the south to NYC. Please check it out. Their smash burger was phenomenal. Simplicity at its finest. The staff was proud of thier product and very friendly. Amazing experience.

Checked out Hometown BBQ in Industry City. I got the brisket, cornbread, and mac & cheese. The brisket was tasty but a little on the dry side (like some other reviews have mentioned). The cornbread was solid and the mac & cheese was nice and creamy. Service was super friendly, which definitely made the visit better, but the brisket was disappointing…

Super delicious bbq. The half chicken is so good. The sauce is even better. I lick that wax paper around it. Ive also had the pickles and turkey. Super epic.

I wish they would leave sauce or garnishes off of items on request. For example, I wish I could try the buffalo cauli or the wings, but both have a dairy based sauce and Im allergic. They will not make any adjustments. My boyfriend would love to try brisket tacos but has a dairy allergy and cant have the queso. More of an FYI for those with allergies.

It does take time to get your food. They sell out because thier food is so fire. Gotta get there early. Also, its helpful to order in advance online.

Not sure which I like better out of Hometown BBQ and Dino BBQ. Both are excellent and worth the schlep. (Disclaimer: I dont eat beef/pork and have only tried the chicken/turkey offerings.)

This place has seriously fallen. Used to be something really special, and worth the price. Today I paid $30 for a dry, kind of flavorless brisket sandwich on a very stale bun, and mac and cheese that tasted like it was made from a box. There was one person taking orders and preparing orders for a line of people.

Extremely disappointed in the experience, and hope this isn’t indicative of a business that no longer cares about quality and instead is riding on reputation.

I recently visited Hometown BBQ, eager to try their highly-touted brisket. While the overall smoky flavor profile was decent, the execution of the star dish was disappointing. The half-pound of brisket I received was, unfortunately, dry, which is a significant miss this price point. The real challenge, however, is the value proposition. My simple lunch—a half-pound of brisket and a side of beans—came out to $31. In my opinion, this price is steep and simply not justified by the quality of the food. It wasn’t an “amazing” meal, and for $40 a pound, the meat should be meltingly tender. Ultimately, the pricing structure makes a casual solo lunch unfeasible. I wish the restaurant offered more flexible options, such as a dedicated lunch special or a sampler platter. Having to commit to $50 or more just to try a variety of meats and sides for one person is a barrier, especially when you’re just looking for a quick, mid-day BBQ fix. If the quality doesn’t improve to match the premium price, or if smaller, more value-driven options aren’t introduced, it’s hard to recommend Hometown BBQ for anything

The best barbecue to be found. Hands down the best. The brisket is just marbled to deliciousness, the spare ribs have a rich flavour and the honey cornbread is like nothing I’ve had before. The Korean Stick Ribs were excellent as we. As platters of food go, hometown is where it’s at. Notable mention to the Fried Chicken Sandwich, Cauliflower Wings and Jerk Tips. You just can’t go wrong with any of the options.
