Hometown Hero’s Subs is a family-owned sub shop rooted in the heart of the Great Smoky Mountains. Built on family recipes passed down since 1990, we’re passionate about great food and giving back to the community we love. We proudly support local heroes and neighbors who make our hometown special — one sub at a time.

Not very impressed. Been twice, first time I got the Rueben and there was too much sauerkraut on it, it was over twice as thick as the meat. 3.5/5. Then today I got the Chicken Wrap and Broccoli Soup. Soup had tons of hard end pieces in it. 1.5/5. Wrap was good, but the Wrap itself was a little thick in comparison to the thickness of the chicken salad that was added. Tomato slices were a little thick for my liking but I’d still give it a 4/5. Definitely don’t recommend the soup though.

If you haven’t been to Hometown Hero’s Subs yet, you’re seriously missing out. This sandwich was an absolute knockout. The bread was perfectly toasted with just the right crunch, holding together layer after layer of meats, cheese, and fresh veggies. Every bite hit with flavor — smoky, savory, and balanced with just enough tang from the condiments.
The sides don’t slack either — the potato salad was creamy and rich without being heavy, and the dill pickle spear was the perfect crisp finisher. Portion sizes? Generous. You’ll leave satisfied, but not weighed down.
The vibe at Hometown Hero’s Subs matches the food: welcoming, no-nonsense, and made with care. This isn’t just a quick bite spot; it’s a place you’ll want to keep coming back to.
Bottom line: if you’re in the area and craving a sub that actually delivers on flavor, skip the chain places and head to Hometown Hero’s. Your taste buds will thank you.

Such a refreshing alternative to chain restaurants! We had a sourdough BLT (with delicious special sauce) and a Reuben. Our sides were tomato Gouda soup and broccolini cheddar. Fresh ingredients, service with a smile, and a focus on all who serve our communities and country…we have a new favorite when we come to town!

I had the rueben, which was cold in the middle. Meat seemed subpar quality, nothing exciting or unique. Mac and cheese was watery and flavorless. Nothing like pictured on their website. Almost $18 for those two items with no drink, that’s a lot for a meal that left no impression and doesn’t make me want to return.
The employees were nice and the place was clean.

This place is truly special. Hometown Hero’s ended up being one of the unexpected highlights of my trip to Sevierville. Everyone there was warm and welcoming, the place was clean and full of character, and the photos on the wall added such a nice personal touch.
And the subs—simple & so good. I’m from Austin, TX, where there’s no shortage of great food, but I still find myself thinking about these subs. Hope to be back soon! Highly recommend 🙂

I’m not sure why but I expected this pace to be more of a “hole in the wall” type of location. While it’s small, it’s in a little strip of businesses and was easy to find. It looked clean and fairly new. I love Reuben sandwiches so that is what I got (to go). I picked Mac and cheese for the side. I also got 2 brownies. Everything was very tasty. The meat in my sandwich was tender and not chewy or fatty. I asked for extra sauerkraut and was happy with the amount on my sandwich. The brownies were really chocolately- not dry though not the super fudgy type either. I liked the chocolate chips in them,‘ too. I love sandwiches and delis and
supporting local spots so I can see myself becoming a regular here.

During our relaxing vacation in Gatlinburg, TN, we wanted to sample some local favorites instead of the usual chain restaurants. We found a delightful spot for lunch, Hometown Hero’s Subs, which offers a small but appealing menu of sandwiches. The guy (maybe owner?) that took our order was so friendly, he gave us great recommendations for other local favorites. The customer service was top tier!
My partner chose the infamous Italian sandwich after hearing it was a must-try. He initially considered the Reuben but was swayed by the rave reviews of the Italian. It turned out to be the best Italian sandwich he’d ever had. He also enjoyed a side of white cheddar mac & cheese.
I opted for the BBQ chicken wrap with a side of red pepper & Gouda soup. Both were delicious—we didn’t leave a crumb! The portion sizes were generous, exceeding our expectations. We were really impressed by this place.
If you’re in Sevierville or Gatlinburg, TN, you should definitely check out Hometown Hero’s Subs. You won’t be disappointed!
