Hometown Grill and Bar: A Family-Friendly Dining Experience in …
Reviews
– Catch different sporting events on the televisions strategically placed throughout the high and counter bar areas, with some coverage spilling over to the regular tables. – The afternoons on weekdays offer a relaxed atmosphere, perfect for unwinding or catching up with friends.
[Opinion]
– Calamari: Crispy-skinned perfection with a refreshingly light texture. The accompanying dipping sauce is a delightful complement, and refills are readily available.
– Fries: Be aware that the fries come seasoned generously with salt, but its price is so reasonable!
– This spot is ideal for watching sports, socializing with friends, or celebrating a special occasion.
*Just one small thing…dining room was quite warm. If you are heat sensitive dress light.
Please bring this hot honey sandwich back!!! It was so delicious. I haven’t been back nearly as much since I was given the sad news whenever I do it’s just to get a side of sweet potato fries….
Aside from that, the atmosphere is nice & chill. Bartender was super friendly and made the best drink! The customer service otherwise started lacking when a lot of new hire servers and hostesses came in at once but hoping that will better with time as they learn.
The wait staff named Cookie was very knowledgeable, pleasant, and welcoming. She was professional, attentive, and kept a smile on throughout the whole evening with a bright smile.
The atmosphere was very relaxing with a positive vibe, lights were dim, and it felt like a cozy industrial neighborhood bar that you could make your favorite place to be on a weekday or weekend.
The food was prepared fresh with fresh ingredients. You could tell there were no gimmicks. This is the first time I finished the salad and could not finish my wings. Everything we ordered tasted fresh and not from a frozen bag.
We have decided to adopt this place as our new home for many occasions. We will be back again. This place hit the mark.
////////UPDATE////////////
Just walked out about another 10 minutes. We came in this afternoon around 1:30 pm 4 February with a party of 3. We were sat at a booth. For about almost 10 minutes, no one acknowledged our table or even stopped by to bring water. So we decided to go across the street to Casa Tequila and as soon as we walked in, they brought us appetizers.
I must admit when we fist came here the restaurant was great. The other 2 times we came, we noticed the food quality and response time started going down hill. Sorry, we will not be back again after giving them 3 chances.
Updated: So, I’ve been back for the Sunday brunch and am now a fan. I ordered the stuffed French Toast, and everyone else got the blueberry pancakes with eggs and sausage. The kids’ meal French Toast came with potatoes, and I ordered a side of bacon, and it was enough to feed two toddlers. It’s super delicious, and I am now counting the days until I can return for brunch again. I think I enjoyed the brunch experience more so than the dinner in comparison….likely because of the high quality to cost ratio versus the lumch and dinner offerings .
First review: You’ll like this place if you appreciate meals made from scratch as everything here is made from scratch. Also, the venue is relatively new, so all the staff have a glow and seem excited to be there. My server Rachel was exceptional and was one of the reasons I gave the establishment 5 stars despite some hiccups.
I visited on a Tuesday lunch around 3 pm. There were about 3 other parties there. While the bar and large TV definitely scream a sports bar vibe, there is a more relaxed small group and couple’s welcoming atmosphere. I neglected to ask if there was a kid’s menu, but I didn’t see any evidence of booster seats or high chairs..
Off the bat, the food was fabulous. I had been looking forward to trying out this spot and hadn’t eaten out all month, so I dug in with a hearty appetite and a liberal wallet. Since I only had 6 muffin for breakfast, I got the fried oysters as an appetizer.
Perfection.
I got the Filet Mignon as my entrée cooked medium. The meat was tender and almost pulled apart as if it were slow cooked with a light brown sauce. It came with a hefty, tasty side of fries; but, at a 35 dollar price point, it needs to have another side or a veggie. I was told that the dinner serving of the same entrée came with broccolini. I’m not sure why they wouldn’t provide that veggie at lunch if the price is the same. Moving on…
I tried the “All the Feels” libation which I recommend but for 14 dollars, you’d expect a larger drink with more than just one liquor. I’m thinking 14 for a long Island iced tea. All the Feels has one liquor and flavor fillers.
My partner got the short rib grilled cheese which was delicious and could almost feed two. We got two desserts: 1) the bread pudding and the 2) chocolate and caramel duet. The latter is a brownie served with a caramel ice cream. The bread pudding was out of this world.
So, I’d give this spot 4.5 stars for the pricing of the two items I mentioned and also for a bit of the noise. Not sure what was going on in the kitchen, but we listened to an incessant banging for about 15-20 when we arrived…perhaps the chef was tenderizing meat or playing wacamole. At any rate, I’m a fan and look forward to visiting again within the coming weeks and trying some other offerings I eyed on the menu.
