In a word, Homestead is disappointing. They try and there is great potential, but they don’t live up to the promise and pretense. It is the basic small details that are missing, such as a warm Manhattan with no cherry, a table not being set despite a reservation, having to ask for silverware. For the price, the ingredients are skimpy. The haddock dish served with scallops and shrimp comes with half a scallop (cut in two) and two small shrimp. The salmon with risotto was served with white rice (“we are out of risotto, would you like extra green beans?”) Don’t even try the artichoke dip as a starter…soupy mayo-based sauce with a few pieces of artichoke and strands of spinach thrown in. Parsimonious is another word that comes to mind to describe Homestead.

The salad was dry even after asking for more dressing. It was just a different kind of Cesar dressing, tasted more like butter. The chicken was a bit dry as well. The burger was ordered med and it came well done. The drinks were good. Overall just a bit pricey for our wallet to return. The music didn’t match the dining atmosphere either. It was a nice place just not our kind of atmosphere . A friend recommended this restaurant due to not being familiar with the area.

Best chicken parm I’ve ever had. If you’re near Farmington stop in. You won’t be disappointed. We were here before 5, but it gets busy.

Great family restaurant! Really enjoyed my time here. Great service as well. The Salmon bowl was unreal and I really hope they keep it on the menu! Recommend

We’ve been here at least a dozen times over the last year or two. Locals. Enjoy the atmosphere and service is always very friendly, but as others have noted very inconsistent. You might go 20 minutes or more without seeing anyone and have to flag someone down and get your own water refilled.

First time. Lunch on a Saturday Hol8day weekend. Not busy at all. The pluses..friendly staff…Quick service..casual pleasant atmosphere…probably nicest place in Farmington. B+ Food… Linguine Alfred with chicken highlight of lunch. Creamy, hot, chicken nicely grilled, pasta well cooked. A. Onion rings. Eh. Coating quite thick…small size for $7. C. Half a chicken salad with homage chips. Looked nice when it came and first few bites ok when waitress asked if everything ok. Then, well. Chips unevenly cooked and clearly been sitting awhile. Some chips crisp, some soggy in middle crisp on outside. Mixed thoughts. Chicken salad with tarragon mayo lettuce bacon and white bread. Too much mayo, bacon big chunks and bread had an odd, almost verging on stale taste. Only ate about half of a half. I will be the first to admit, I have worked in resturants in the past, and there is no way you can please every palate for every item. I have never and never would (unless something fundementally wrong like raw meat) ask for a refund. My taste are my taste and opinion. Overall, would stop in again and try different things. Experience was not a deal breaker. I would add pics, but does not seem an option. OK, when I edit the review pic option poped up so here they are. $7 for onion rings $7 for sandwich $19 for pasta.

One of the nicest vibes in the area is marred by consistently inattentive service. The waitstaff are friendly and pleasant but my experience over the last two years is that once your order is placed you won’t see anyone again for a long time. No check-in to see how the food is, no offer of water with your drink. If something is wrong with your order you’ll have to work hard to get someone’s attention or else be prepared to get up from your table to approach a hostess or waitstaff. As I write this I’m experiencing this again as usual and listening to the party at the next table complain about the same thing. Again, friendly staff but simply not attentive to your dining experience. More training needed.

We’ve been here several times and the food is good, though pricey, but it’s the service that’s hit or miss. Sometimes they are right on it, this time they were horribly slow. 45 minutes to get a burger is ridiculous. Drinks weren’t refilled promptly, and our server disappeared for 20 minutes at a time. They had a guy training there the time before that who was funny and gracious and would have been great, but he’s not there so they must have passed him up. The excuse for the delay was a “visiting chef from Portland”, and the food was really good, just really slow.

What a great meal! The food was exceptional, the waiter did NOT miss a trick. His service was perfect, on time, attentive and as wonderful as the food.
