After almost three years in Bellingham’s Sunnyland neighborhood, Homeschool BBQ announced plans to permanently close at the end of March.

We found this colour-splashed BBQ paradise in Bellingham! Homeschool BBQ!
The Lineup:
– Combo Platter (Pulled Pork + Brisket) – best of both worlds
– Creamy Mac & Cheese (hot and cheezy) + Fluffy Biscuits
– The “Smoked Brisket Biscuit” (A mouthful in every sense of the word!)
Two bottles of bbq sauce to try: original style and Carolina style.
It’s rare to find a spot where the atmosphere is as bold as the flavours, but Homeschool BBQ nailed it. 10/10–even the teen gave it a thumbs up. We’ll be back for the ribs! It was a nice visit to Bellingham again from Vancouver, it’s been a while.

Seriously the best BBQ I’ve had West of Memphis! The restaurant itself is SUCH a vibe inside and out, the folks that own/run it are truly lovely and kind and talented as heck. The food wad out of this world good. We had the chicken wings (only available during the summer) with potato salad and the brisket biscuit. Both were AH-MAZING! The meat was beautifully cooked and seasoned and the potato salad was bright and refreshing instead of heavy and the biscuit was good enough that I wish I could get a dozen to take home with me. I wanted to take a bath in their Carolina style BBQ sauce and the habernero/guava sauce was so flavorful and delicious. Everything about this place gave me joy and I’ll be back as soon as I can.

Absolutely loved our time there! Decided to try somewhere new with my daughter. It was delicious! (I highly recommend the Banjo sauce ) the atmosphere is amazing! My 11 year old was OBSESSED with all the fun decorations and wanted a picture EVERYWHERE. Lived here my whole 33 years and never went to Homeskillet when it was here so I’m glad I went to this little gem Homeschool. I love the freshness in the food! So good and so filling. Loved the outdoor seating with all the flowers

Went to Homeschool BBQ for lunch on a Sunday with past clients and my husband. We were treated warmly by the owner himself and he was able to tell us all about his dishes and their ingredients. One of my past clients is gluten intolerant and the owner was so helpful in advising what she could eat and what she should stay away from. I got the brisket and it was delicious. The sides were perfect. Everyone loved their meal. It is so nice going to a restaurant where you know you’re supporting a local owner and your money is staying in the community. I highly recommend Homeschool BBQ and we will definitely be back again!

Great tender and moist meat and excellent sides! I don’t feel that the portion size matched the cost (cheaper or more meat for that price), and the sauces overpowered the meat or were too sweet/vinegary(?). Luckily, the meat didn’t need the sauce. The wait staff was very good and the atmosphere good.

Literally the nicest people and the most delicious food! Everything is made in house and you can taste that. From the pickles to the biscuits to the special weekend ribs they offer, everything here is worth it. Be prepared to want to just roll back to your car with how full you’re gonna get. These fine folks deserve the best success!

Saw they have breakfast on a Facebook post, so we decided to try. It’s so cute! I love all the artistic touches everywhere and card games at the tables. Looks like a converted house, not a huge spot but nice and personal. We got mimosas and they were not small! The home fries were different from that I’ve gotten other places, more like scalloped potatoes. Good serving sizes. Definitely want to come back for the non-breakfast menu! I’m a sucker for biscuits and cornbread

Fantastic authentic BBQ!
Stopped in for lunch and we were blown away by this hidden gem. We were greeted as soon as we walked in, and enjoyed the unique cozy atmosphere. Service was great the entire time, and we appreciated the attention to detail the owners have. Everything was homemade, some items like their spicy sauces are cooked to order, and we felt like we were having a meal in someone’s home.
The Brisket was so tender it fell apart with a fork, and the pulled pork was so juicy! All of the sides we ordered (mac & cheese, creamed corn, and biscuits) were spot on, and the homemade strawberry lemonade was super fresh.

Homeschool is a magical place for your palate and it’s a pretty sweet atmosphere too! The brisket was perfectly cooked, and the pulled pork was seasoned so well I couldn’t stop saying how delicious it was. For our sides we had the German potato salad, coleslaw, baked beans and corn such a great selection and again, all well seasoned. I can’t wait to go back with a larger group to try more things!

Enjoyed the sunny afternoon at this cute BBQ place on a day trip to Bellingham. Both the pulled pork and Brisket were delicious, especially enjoyed the smoky aroma and flavor. Sides were nice too and they have the best beans I have tasted ever, would come back just for that. Really friendly service!
