Decided to stop in for brunch on our way back home ( Wisconsin ) and so glad I did. Was gonna have a waffle at the hotel, but the Cherry pistachio French toast looked amazing. ( Exactly what I ordered with a side of potatoes and Grits ) piggy don’t judge.

The server( Shelby ) was very nice and very knowledgeable about the foods and the menu..

The atmosphere is very nice, kinda upscale with a casual vibe.

Then the food came out, the wife got the rueben with potatoes and that was actually very good, I rarely get a rueben but this one id come back for .

But then that cherry pistachio French toast came out, and I was in heaven. Man, was that French toast so darn good, could’ve gone for another piece. Hahahah. Potatoes were cooked perfectly and the cheesy grits were amazing as well.

As you can see, a box was not needed. Hahahaha

If im ever back in the area, id be back

Great food, atmosphere and service. If having breakfast or brunch on the weekend definitely make a reservation though! Parking is hard to find and you may need to walk a little ways. There is not much room for people to wait to be seated inside the restaurant. However was worth the wait, the whole experience was great other than the mob of people waiting to be seated.

This is one of those restaurants where you really have a great experience – great ambience (you will notice a lot put into for better looks ), great tasting food – love the pancakes & everything we ordered. Worth your money. At times there could be a long wait that you have to plan ahead either by calling them ahead or staying in yelp’s virtual line.

I highly recommend this to try this one out. We were finally able to dine here after two times backing out to long wait times.. which is a good sign for a restaurant
Enjoy!

Homegrown is a great spot for breakfast or brunch. The menu items are refreshing and feel light on the stomach. I ordered the avocado toast with two poached eggs, and it was really good. The place is usually pretty busy, so there’s often a wait—typically around 10–15 minutes, but it can be closer to 30 minutes during peak times. Parking can be a bit tricky since it’s next to an apartment complex, but it’s manageable. Overall, it’s a great place for brunch with friends or family.

Love this place! Comfortable homey environment rooted in kindness. There is a breakfast bar, booths, tables, and outside seating for warmer weather. Service is spot on! Struck out on my 1st order as there is a new cook and my choice was untraditional. I had a Hazelnut/Vanilla Lattee and it was great! Goodies on shelves to buy on your way in or out. I will be returning as I love the environment and service. The food I am sure is great and I’ll give another review or update this one when I go back. Posting photos including the drink & food menu.

This place is top notch. Our server was genuinely concerned that everything was as expected and make sure that the meal went like clockwork. There is a serious wait time especially on Saturday so make sure you hop into Google and get yourself on the waitlist early. The wait time was 40 minutes but half of that was spent driving to the location so that made it much more manageable. The coffee is very good which is surprisingly hard to find anymore . Seems like everybody has terrible drip coffee but this stuff from windmill is excellent. The space is new well designed and well-appointed and oddly even though it is extremely busy it wasn’t so loud that you couldn’t have a conversation with the person across the booth from you. Overall a great place my wife and I were impressed and we will be back.

Was recommended HomeGrown by a friend and it sure did not disappoint. I ordered the red velvet pancakes off of their seasonal menu and would highly recommend. April and Cory took care of me this morning and had such positive attitudes with everyone. Would definitely put this place on your breakfast list!

Truly one of the best breakfast experiences in the Des Moines Metro, combining a great menu, perfectly executed food delivery to the table, an elite level of customer service, and a superb overall vibe. Love the decor all around, and the coziness of the tables rocks. Shared a pair of entrees, Let’s Make a Toast and BLTA+E, and they were outstanding. It just feels right the moment that you enter, and the whole experience remains at a high level.

The food and coffee were delicious! I had the meatloaf and the honey bee coffee, recommend both. And April was a really gracious and sweet.

The hype (to me at least) isn’t warranted. I will say the bacon is pretty good but the pancakes are practically tasteless unless you add syrup or butter. I know most would probably put syrup in it anyways but to me pancakes shouldn’t have a bland base flavor. This is primarily a breakfast place, one of the main things that you need to nail down before anything here, are the pancakes and they taste like virtually nothing. The homemade brown sugar poptart is what I expected it to taste like which is good but is it good enough to be served with a 9 dollar price tag plus tax? Nada. Our waitress was pretty nice, had great energy and displayed some great hospitality, attentive, and while the place had a great atmosphere, atmosphere can only do so much to augment the experience. Honestly I wouldn’t even be this harsh on the place if it was just your run of the mill restaurant that is known for being an okay place but all of that is crushed under the weight of the expectation I had been given. To be under the expectation of being outstanding, astounding, and exceptional would be a big weight to carry for any restaurant but Homegrown just can’t carry it in my eyes. It was disappointing to me. So with an establishment with good with nice staff, okay at best food that doesn’t even balance itself like Ihop’s or Village in, Portions not quite as big as Crackle Barrel but expensive if you are looking for something reasonably affordable, and difficult parking and line waiting because of how crowded it is, I can’t recommend it, it’s too expensive and you will not get an exceptional tasting experience like many others will suggest but because of how good the service is and the atmosphere, I will be generous and give it a 5/10. Yes, 5/10 is me being generous in this case.

Final verdict, not worth the time, hassle, nor money. It’s okay for a one time dine in but I wouldn’t go again.
