Food was fantastic, had smothered (brown gravy) fried chicken breast, mashed taters & coleslaw (mayo based with a splash of BBQ sauce for a delicious tang). All items served in paper baskets. Friendly staff. Outside of building not very friendly looking (do to great food reviews we went in). Eclectic inside atmosphere. Enjoy.

Yum! Delicious wholesome comfort food. Loads of vegetarian, vegan and meat options. Their tempeh melt and BBQ were real good. Better yet, the biscuits and okra fries hit the spot. Great local independent restaurant!!

My husband, in-laws, and I were visiting Asheville and I had read some good things about this place. Upon arrival we were greeted warmly after waiting in line and surveying the menu. The lady behind the counter was sweet and professional. My in-laws got the fried fish plate, hubby the fish Po’boy, and I got the fried chicken. Everything was delicious: fries, cheese grits, slaw, kale, and the mushroom gravy that came with my chicken. I also tried the iced herbal tea, cherry lemon ginger and it was very tasty. Definitely will be back!

Pickup order for pimento chicken sandwich, catfish po boy, and fries/collards for lunch. Restaurant is quaint, hidden gem. The quality of the fry beats just about anything else in town. Not soggy or steamed, even after the drive home. A good lunch place. Tasty sauces. Good flavor and texture. Sandwiches that are loaded with protein, though don’t fall apart while eating. Will visit again.

Visited in July 2024. The burger was delicious. The baked apple dessert with ice cream was also phenomenal. My companions also enjoyed their meals, a BBQ tofu sandwich and a catfish po boy. The building was kept a little warm for my preference. Limited parking in the front. Appeared that the place is popular with the locals. Three meals, three sides, drinks, two desserts, and tip cost us about $82. I would definitely go back again.

We were driving through North Carolina and stopped at Homegrown for lunch. Homegrown was a standout. Staff were on point and very friendly.

I tried the chicken sandwich, and it was amazing. Heavily seasoned with fresh toppings. The fries were also good.

The vibe was immaculate.

We came in for a late lunch based on reviews. You order at the counter and that goes quickly. The employees are friendly.

My husband and I both ordered smoked pork plates. I got mine with cheesy grits and he got the fries. The grits were good but the fries were amazing. He felt the pork was a bit heavy on the pepper but mine was great. The slaw that came with it was also really good. The portion size was good and we left very satisfied.

There are multiple seating areas including some outside.

I would definitely come back.

The herbal tea, not pictured is my new favorite drink. SO YUMMY.
The food was out very fast and was hot and fresh.
We were surprised at the size of the meat on my fiance’s sandwich.
The tomato on that sandwich was the best I’ve had in years.
Good sized portions
I had a tempeh sandwich, it was good and sesame carrots and peas..didn’t really love the carrots of peas but it was different.

Unique offerings and change from chain dining. It was very cold inside. Hard to enjoy food when freezing. Food got cold quickly because it was so cold and we were not there during a freeze or ice storm. Just a regular January night 2 wks before ice storm. I can’t imagine going now that temps are in the teens. The zucchini side was good, but was bland. The ckn was better seasoned.

100% would recommend!!!
The building inside and out is a beautiful, farm house type vibe. It just felt homey, comfortable and aesthetically pleasing. The staff was so very nice and the service was amazing and fast!
Don’t even get me started on how good the food was. It seriously was fantastic both me and my mom were in shock. I got the bbq tofu sandwich with a side of fries and she got the buttermilk fried chicken with a side of Caribbean jerk squash and stewed zucchini with tomatoes. So delicious!! 5 stars from us!
