Little heat; no bacon. We looked at the reviews before choosing, and generally found good comments about their specialty grill cheeses and tomato soup. Granted it’s an old building and we were in the middle of a week of cold and ice, but the only area warm enough to sit was in front of the heat vent and the bar. It was fine for us. The four of us ordered grill cheese sandwiches w tomato soup. However, the soup was not in a regular bowl, but a small dipping bowl. Very underwhelming. Our friends said their sandwiches – the Chesapeake and the Mac and Me were very good and enjoyable. The Upstate my wife and I received was questionable from first sight. The wheat bread was over grilled – after a few bites we looked “under the hood” and noticed the apple wood bacon was missing and sauteed onions in its place. In hindsight, the $11 pricetag was not a value for a bad sandwich. Bartender didn’t check on us until we paid the bill. I really question the place as a place to come for a meal. Maybe as a bar and a good night drinking, but go elsewhere for good food.

I love this spot! It’s called home sweet home for a reason. The vibe is awesome, it’s a really cool place with cool art, cool people, etc. best of all are the grilled cheeses! There are so many good ones on the menu. Outdoor patio is also great. Parking can be tricky but it’s worth it!

I had a mac n cheese sandwich. I was expecting it to be cheesier. The sweet potato fries had a hot spice on them that was not desired. The appetizer was good – pretzel bites. The server was the bartender and he did a great job. I enjoyed the atmosphere.

The food and waitstaff were great but the graffiti on the walls on the second floor was very inappropriate. Vulgar and sexually explicit. If you are bringing young children I would suggest not sitting upstairs.

Walked in and had to walk to bar. Was told to have a seat anywhere, sat by the front in on of the booths inside. Should have sat by the bar, because we were definitely forgot about. Another group came in and were given drinks before bartender came to our table. I was about to leave and we are handed some menus and asked what we wanted to drink, he apologized for forgetting about us (I knew that was the case) and we ordered waters because I didnt want to wait for him to come back. I assume if you drink alcohol, this is a nice place because they don’t forget you’re there. I wonder how you get served if you sit upstairs. If you haven’t been here before, the vibe is not there. Next time I will go somewhere else. Food was good but not worth the wait. Reading other reviews. This seems to be the normal.

Went in at lunch time and it was an awesome upscale grilled cheese with a side of tomato soup! Cute decor inside, definite dive bar feeling.

Food was good and so was the service. We had tea & coke but I noticed that they have a small craft beer tap list too. Will definitely go back.

My daughter and I visited for lunch and were very happy with our experience. She got the Mac N Me -pulled pork and Mac n cheese on grilled challah bread. The result was a crispy, buttery, slightly sweet bread filled with not too saucy pulled pork and creamy cheesy mac. Delightful! Her sandwich came with a little cruet of slightly spiced basil-y tomato soup. I got the WTF -grilled multigrain bread with smoked pork, sage and fontina cheese with a side of perfectly cooked sweet potato fries. We opted for the house dressing which was very mild cross between Russian and ranch with more of a bent towards the ranch side. Went well with the fries. The service was prompt and friendly. The downstairs brought me back to my recent trip to Nashville -small narrow bar -I did not venture upstairs as I was able to nab a table right by the bright window up front! I recommend for a quick lunch!

Service was polite and super fast! The food was so good and upstairs they had a level where everything had writing on it even the ceiling and I thought that was so cool they allowed patrons to leave a piece of themselves at the restaurant :-). 100% recommend.

The atmosphere was snug and warm and the service was personable. Poutine fries where delicious and satisfying. The jerk chicken grilled cheese was also very good, but the star player for me was the side of tomato soup which was probably the best tomato soup I’ve had in a long time!
