We were seated, our order for an extra large sausage and mushroom pizza was taken, and then we waited. And waited.
Others patrons came in and were seated.
We waited for almost an hour, without complaint, until we noticed other tables receiving their pizzas before us. In fact, 10 other tables received their pizzas before us before I approached the manager.
I was told our pizza would be another 6 minutes due to the mushrooms. Then we were told the pizza was “too light,” so they put the pizza back in. Then we were told it would be another 6 minutes. At this point, 12 other tables, who came in after us, had received their pizzas. Upon questioning, we were told that some of the pizzas were pre-orders.
The attitude of the manager was one of irritation, at us, for asking the status of our pizza. She eventually came over and said we would “be taken of.” When we asked what that meant, she sighed and literally stormed off, never to come back. Our server later told us that we would receive half off the pizza.
This visit was a total disappointment. Pizza was delicious, as always, but the lack of respect and service is pathetic.
As of 12/30/2025, I see HRI responded to my post of the terrible experience we had at the flagship location at 31st street. HRI tells me to reach out, yet provides no information on how to contact their customer support. How serious is HRI in resolving the lack of professionalism and lack of respect?
It’s a shame. We have been going to this HRI location for over 50 years. So much for loyalty.
Ample parking with three lots and extremly impressed with the modern massive location in a classic tight Chicago community.
Full transparency, never thought I would write that cliché…Have loved their frozen pizza since we were kids living in the tiny town of Ingleside. Would have been in the 1980’s that our neighbors would bring the pizza’s home from Home Run Inn frozen pizzas that were sold as fundraisers for local little league baseball. Only visited a restaurant somewhere near Schaumburg decades ago. Our family has always enjoyed the frozen version and after moving from Chicagoland to Milwaukee, then to California where it was multiple hours drive to a store that carried the pizza. Now in 2025 my daughter moved to Chicago and I made her take the long (haha traffic long, not distance long) drive from the Loop over to 31st at lunch time (not the right time of day, according to her, to eat pizza out). It met our expectations and beyond. Staff was absolutely fabulous still think our server should be an actor.
We had to try the Warm Ricotta Skillet and delicious. Ricotta and fresh Sauce with hot honey served with garlic bread… bring friend to share so you have room for pizza.
We decided to order two medium pizza’s so we could have leftovers to freeze. We got one meat lovers and one margarita with spinach. Both were hot, crisp, delicious. The Meat Lovers was the bomb, it is in the sausage. We had 3/4 left of each and we’re beyond stuffed.
Picked up shirts so we have a great memory of a mother daughter adventure.
Keep up the great quality and amazing service.
