Hollerbach’s at the Sanford Airport is a wonderful surprise—real food with flavor and care in a place usually known for grab-and-go meals. It’s connected to the well-loved two-story Hollerbach’s restaurant in downtown Sanford, and it shows. The dishes use the same ingredients and recipes, giving travelers a true taste of authentic German cooking without ever leaving the terminal.

I ordered the Wienerschnitzel and Jägerschnitzel, and both were excellent—crispy, tender, and properly seasoned. The only small miss was the absence of Rotkohl (red cabbage) and dumplings, which would have made it perfect. Still, what was served stood well on its own.

Their house beers are brewed specifically for Hollerbach’s and pair beautifully with the food. Service was equally impressive—Monika, our waitress, was friendly, efficient, and genuinely engaging. Even though mobile ordering is an option, it’s worth taking the time to order from a real person. This spot turns an airport meal into an experience worth savoring.

Hollerbach’s is an absolute hidden gem inside Sanford Airport. The German food is top-notch — truly authentic and reminded me of the dishes you’d get in Germany. Nothing like the typical airport food; no microwaved meals or overpriced bland plates here.

The service is outstanding. Perry took great care of us with genuine kindness, and Monterro is an outstanding cook — everything came out perfectly prepared.
Prices are reasonable, the cocktails are excellent, and they offer several beers on tap, including some great German options.

A surprising find in an airport, and definitely worth a visit. Highly recommended. ✨

Surprising airport food and service. Flatbread was excellent and obviously not microwaved or premade. Service was top notch. Drink prices were ridiculous.

I was SO excited to see this restaurant in the airport because the Sanford location is FABULOUS!! Greater quickly- got a menu and gagged at the prices! $22 for a Ruben sandwich?!? I was hungry so decided to give it a try. I didn’t want the fry’s that came with so asked for any veggies- no- none- no substitutions. Well, okay. Bummer.
The sandwich that was given to me was beyond gross- the bread on top was not grilled, the bread on the bottom was a soppy mess. Like it had been sitting on the pick up for at least 20 min. The corned head had been fried and was beyond tough- and so disgustingly full of fat. I tried to get someone’s attention multiple times to discuss this disgusting heap- but could never get a server to come over. My plane was boarding so I just paid on the QR code and left- will never be back- no matter how hungry!

It was nice to have the option to grab a drink and some food here when our plane was delayed. The flatbread and salad were tasty but I would like to see a few more healthy vegetarian options on the menu.

Two of us split a Jaegerschnitzel entree, which was plenty for us. Good portion size but the pork had ZERO flavor. Service was friendly.

It’s a fake German restaurant with not really German food. The beer seemed authentic but bratwurst was something else. They could also spring for some decent potato chips instead of crumbled Lays chips.

I have to say that the people who work here really make the environment. They are so pleasant and you can see how they enjoy working with each other.
Then you have the food which is just as good as the original restaurant.
Airport bars/restaurants can be so impersonal but the attitude/enthusiasm of the servers really make it a place to enjoy.
The only criticism I have is that once you are in the service area there are no logos to remind you of where you are. The only exception is the servers’ uniforms.
My advice is to put the “Hollerbach” on the menus, Bar top QR code placements and on the wall behind the bar.
Again, I reiterate what a great staff they have and great food!

Not even half a glass of wine for $27. I expect high prices at an airport but geez! Pretzel was over cooked, hard and terrible. Service was pretty non existent and not friendly. Bartender kept making weird noises and singing loudly, constantly over the hour I sat there. Not a pleasant or relaxing experience at all! I think it’s the only option at the airport that serves alcohol. German food is a poor choice in my opinion. I like German food but not at an airport.

Staffing seemed way overworked, even though I was the only one in there. difficult to get service food was just ok and prices were really steep. Why a German restaurant here I don’t know. It’s actually kind of bizarre.
