I ate here with 2 friends whilst visiting Durham. The service was excellent and the food was outstanding. I am lactose intolerant which we’d told them when booking earlier in the day. They had printed out a list of dishes containing lactose but then the chap taking our order (who was the owner/manager I think) asked what I’d prefer and suggested an adaptation to the recipe which I was delighted with. The food as I said was delicious. I love curry and this was 1 of the best I’ve ever tasted. 1 of my friends had lamb which she said was cooked to perfection and delicious. My other friend wanted to try something new and the chap was able to make a suggestion and she loved it. This meal was 1 of the highlights of our trip. Would definitely recommend and visit again. If only we were closer!!

The 1 guy there (owner/waiter?) was so disgusting and offensive (super pushy type + spoke as fast as possible…why is a mystery as we were the only people there).

He dismissed our questions like we were children.

I would have left but it was late and didn’t want to drive into city center.

*The 2 mildest curry + chicken & rice were delicious but ridiculous at $45 US or £38 I think.

Eat somewhere else!
My worst meal in 3 week trip to UK.

But nice hotel.

It’s 6.30 am in the morning and I have to write this review as I am in extreme rage and with the upset stomach and sour throat. . I am an Indian and I exactly know how the food tests like. We ordered the food and it was extremely oily and unnecessarily spicy. All my family members throt is sour very next morning. The same gravy was used for Curry as well as for the Samosa Chat. And pathetically the Rita served with Biryani, which is made of curd was stale and uneatable. Tbh, it was not the first time we ordered the food…one year ago, the food was pretty good. Now, it’s totally downhill. May be the management or the chef has changed. We will not be ordering again for sure.

Such a quaint, hidden gem with the warmest atmosphere. The staff were incredibly attentive from start to finish. Tony, the head chef/manager, went above and beyond to ensure every dish was tailored perfectly to our tastes, and Max, our waiter, was friendly, knowledgeable, and made the whole experience even better. The food felt truly bespoke to every palate. A wonderful dining experience—can’t wait to return!

The food was fantastic, the balance of flavours is great. Spicier than I am used too, I normally go for much milder curry choices but each dish had something to cool your palate and the spice was never overpowering as a result.

The Tahli option was great as it gave me a broad base of styles, tastes and textures to try and I was not disappointed!

I have only ever found two Indian restaurants I would revisit and often do, miles apart from one another but if I was ever in that area those are the only places I would order an Indian meal from and on Durham I can’t see how it can get better than this!

One lady taking orders and organising the deliveries as I went during a quiet weekday in January but she was polite, friendly and helpful, she advised me of each dish, what was in it, and kept my water topped up for me. Always on hand but never overbearing she’s clearly an expert in her field.

Lovely little place, staff very friendly, curious & professional.
Dog friendly at one table in the bar area, this has to be booked in advance.
For the warmer weather there is an outside area.

Lovely food, nice staff. Soft shell crab starter was particularly good. A bit noisy as it filled up, but that’s because it’s small. Reasonable prices as well. Worth the difficulty of finding

First and last visit, unfortunately. Everything was nicely presented but sadly the flavours weren’t good. Both curries were hotter than you’d expect ‘medium’ to be, which would have been fine had it not been for the overpowering taste of tomato puree. The peshwari naan breads weren’t great either, the filling was dry and tasteless. This is the only Indian restaurant I’ve ever been to where I’ve had an really unpleasant meal, some places are better than others but none have been this disappointing. Service was ok, could have been quicker but no real complaints there, just the food that let the place down.
