I recently started eating sushi instead of making sushi and tried a few in different states during my trip. The sushi here was good but not the best. I love saba sushi because it tends to be salty and tangy while not being too fishy. This saba was different than I was used to. It was a bit more meaty and not as delicious as I came to be used to but still good. The smoked salmon was good and the shrimp didn’t really have much flavor, first time trying shrimp sushi so not sure if that it’s how it usually taste. This place is a $2 more expensive for sushi and sashimi. Not the best but more expensive. Worth trying and you deciding.

1st visit for take out, was able to try the lunch specials. This was a great way to experience a new place. I’ve been to more than 1/2 dz places that sell sushi, sashimi & other Japanese items an have been disappointed over an over again. It really hurts(to eat & pay for) once you have had very good delicious food & service at a reasonable price. To then continue to go to places that serve sub par product. But now I can’t wait to come here again to enjoy something else on this extensive menu. Hopefully next time I will get to enjoy the atmosphere while savoring my meal. Good job to staff & the lovely young lady at the front desk who took my order for a job well done. Don’t take my word for it ( but you should) stop by yourself & enjoy something delicious & add a review of your own.

The complimentary green tea was so earthy and nutty, just like the young lady there described. It was the perfect warmth for me to peruse over the menu. I tried the Hokka soup with the chix dumplings and it was delicious. I settled with the sushi special of the night that had me stuffing my mouth with each piece. The mango made it amazing. It was warm and cool. I accompanied that with a side of tempura veggies. The ending green tea put me right where I needed to be before heading back out in the cold. The prices were more reasonable than I expected with the meal just at $35 buks and $42 total with tip. I will be back here for sure with friends and family.

Violent food poisoning from tempura. Used to love this place – now wouldn’t recommend. Both of us got viciously sick (no ER – but close) from an order of vegi tempura. Also noticed that one of vegetable pieces tasted strongly of mold (had to spit it out). Told the waiter – he was very sweet and took it off the bill.

I had a wonderful dinner at Hoka Hoka. I was very impressed by the quality and freshness of the sushi. The service was very friendly. I will be back very soon to get my sushi fix.

Hokka Hokka was ok. We ordered the sashimi appetizer and the tuna seemed to be on its way out. The rolls were very small and very expensive. I ordered the appetizer, a spicy tuna roll, and special roll that costs $17. I think all together sharing that with my husband the bill came to $60 and we were still hungry. The special roll was ok, and the spicy tuna tasted a little off in me and my husbands opinion. We’ve eaten a lot of sushi and this just wasn’t our favorite.
