Delicious BBQ here with all the fixins’. Great rustic decor with plenty of seating for big groups. The BBQ chicken was tender and moist. The pulled beef was tender and lean. The nachos were huge…regular and large. Great services by these ladies.

I like to try different barbecue restaurants in towns that I visit. I don’t recall seeing any that offerer “pulled “ brisket but I thought I would give the sandwich a try. I own two large stickburner smokers and have smoked lots of briskets, pork, and chicken so not new to bbq. This meat was stringy and tough and seemed to be more like oven baked very lean rump roasts. The slaw was delicious and the front house service was spot on, as I got a takeout order. Upside is that it was packed, the restaurant itself was very impressive and I’m willing to bet their other menu offerings are good. Just recommending to smoke and serve true sliced brisket or take the “pulled beef” off the menu and maybe offer a chopped beef version. I would definitely go back again to try the pulled pork and chicken and enjoy a sit down meal.

Decent BBQ joint that seems to VERY popular with the locals. For the area it is probably one of the best options. It absolutely doesn’t compare to what I’m used to at my regular joints in New Orleans, Texas etc. etc. During my first visit I was considering making a return visit to sample their burger but after looking at pictures of the burger and from my experience of their BBQ I just think I’m not going to ever be motivated enough to make a return visit as to me it just doesn’t ring my bell as I’ve been so spoiled by Gonzo’s Smokehouse in Luling, LA (best in the WORLD as far as I’m concerned) Austin, TX BBQ (second places-ish with other Texas joints) and Kansas City BBQ (always fighting for the top spot)… Once you’ve experienced Nirvana it is hard to fall back to mere mortal morsels although if you put that BBQ meat in front of me when I’m hangry I will totally destroy it like a pack of lions or school of rabid piranhas as I’m all about a big pile of meat and my carnivore beast instincts will take over!!!

After driving all day on our way to Florida we stopped for dinner and we can’t say enough wonderful things about this place! The ribs were delicious fall off the bone tender. The owner was kind and generous and he went above and beyond to make our stop worthwhile! We ended with the amazing sweet potato pie. A must have! We will definitely be back!

First time at Hokies and was greeted by a very friendly server. I ordered the ribs via the combo and received the double portion. On the side, some potato salad and fried okra. The salad was different, I’d could call it dense, seasoned to perfection. I couldn’t figure out if I tasted something smoky or not. Good salad! As for the okra, it met the mark, but it is hard to mess up fried okra.
As for the ribs, they were very tender, but I enjoy a little “pull” when I bite off the bone. Flavor was good and the sauce was about average.

Hokie’s BBQ and Grill…could be a local spot,but worth taking the exit if you’re hungry. Polite staff. Pulled chicken sandwich with fried okra and a smoked burger with fries. Smoked burger was lean and really good flavor. Chicken had a good smoked flavor…more chopped than pulled…but good taste. The bun was soft and buttery flavor. Yum. And then sweet potato upside-down pie with ice-cream. Didn’t even need the ice-cream. It was all good. We’ll probably make a return trip. Other items on the menu to try.

I got the two meat plate with a bun because all the reviews told me to try the ribs but the pulled pork sandwich looked good too…
Sides of baked beans and fries.
The fries were excellent. The garlic toast was excellent. The baked beans were good but not great. Nothing negative to say about them.. They just didn’t stick out. The ribs had great smoked flavor and fell off the bone. They were a little fatty but I’m sure that’s nothing the restaurant can control and probably not normal based on other reviews. The pulled pork was a little dry and no real flavor so I added more bbq sauce than I would’ve liked to. Probably would’ve been perfect if I had the foresight to get some slaw for my sandwich.
Service was great. I got a new waitress but she was attentive and had backup that checked as well.
Great place to eat. Definitely recommend.

I enjoyed lunch there yesterday and with several people who had never been. To be honest, I find few places in this town impressive as far as dining goes and Hokies did not disappoint.
Although I’ve eaten here plenty, to experience such great customer service and have the other guests be enthralled with both the tenderness and smoky flavors of the ribs and chicken; I was equally thrilled, again.
Stacey was our waitress and from drinks to dessert, she made quick haste in serving us and we appreciated her.
Go check out the BEST BBQ in George County and ask for Stacey.
