Over 8 years ago we set our sights on opening a brewery, the big question was where? After giving it a tremendous amount of thought, we landed on the place we have all called home at one point or another – Cape Cod. Beer has been in our blood whether it was selling it, marketing it, making it or drinking it. To us, there is no better place to enjoy a cold one than on the shores of the most picturesque place on the planet.

Once the town lock-up, this historic home now houses a cheery haunt serving American pub grub.

We rented out the entire Hog Island Brewery in Orleans for my daughter’s wedding welcome party and we are so glad we did. We wanted something festive and fun with a casual vibe. Hog Island delivered. Tanya was great to work with. She had creative menu ideas and was accommodating and encouraging in all that we wanted to do. She was flexible and everyone on her team was friendly and competent. She even let us name one of the beers “The Hoppy Couple.” Check it out. No doubt you will be hoppy and happy you did!

This brewery is right on the Cape COD bike trail in Orleans, MA. So if you need a break from riding stop here! Great beer with a variety of flights you can choose from. Decent food choices. The flatbread pizza was excellent along with a delicious pretzel. A few outdoor games to play while waiting for your order. Picnic tables with umbrellas outside or indoor seating with tvs to watch sports.

Such a weird place, it feels like they don’t know what direction they want to go in. It took a few minutes to figure out where to enter, which is actually through the back, up some over grown stairs. Interior is very much a hodgepodge of ascetics. Beer is just OK, I did enjoy their hazy IPA, but everything else was meh. Service was friendly but not the most prompt.

Was there last night. Loved the place. The server was excellent. There’s an excellent variety of beers that are very delicious. My wife and I got a colsch beer. They have great views out back at the at the picnic area hung out there for about an hour. Everyone was helpful in choosing our drinks they gave samples to try. They have a large screen TV to watch inside. Thank you for the great service and hospitality

We’ve been here many times and up until now was always good. Today was very different experience. Want to say food was really tasty and the girl behind the bar was very sweet. We went for lunch and a man stopped us at the door and explained that we have to order from the bar and there is no service. The place inside looked abandoned, we never got menus, he simply walked away. We ordered at the bar and delivered our own food to the table when was ready. The guy was sitting next to the door, playing on his phone. He didn’t offer any help to any of the customers or the bartender. I felt like was inconvenience that the place was open . Very disappointing experience

Good beer selection, staff nice atmosphere nice. Attched to brewery. Flatbread was amazing. Endive/arugula salad was good. Stuffed mushrooms I would say was interesting, didn’t love it but didn’t hate it either. Margarita was about a 6. If it had more tequila and used fresh lime juice it would have been better. Poboy shrimp was really good with slight kick. Shrimp cooked well.

Fun place to grab some beers and something to eat. Food was just ok, the flat breads weren’t the best but sandwiches were good. It’s kid friendly for the most part but my wife said there was no changing table in the bathroom which was lame.

Getting too much attention in your day job? Craving that feeling of be ignored? Come on down to Hog Island Beer Co, where 20 mins at a table without service (after asking if its bar or table service) will make you question whether it’s your ex waiting tables.

Solid beer, solid food, just y’know, difficult to order. Would recommend ordering at the bar or preferably just going elsewhere.

Once, we realized that it was a bar, we were worried, because I have a LOT of dietary issues. But I got a salad with salmon and sweet potato fries and everything was great!!!

Edit: While I still am giving it a five, I did have a slight reaction. I suspect that it was the sweet potato fries. As reactions go, it wasn’t too bad, so I am thinking that it was just a ‘smidge’ of a contact with whatever the trigger was. Or, maybe there were added ingredients!

Whatever the reason, great place with fantastic food.

Hog Island Beer Co is a must when in Orleans. As others have said, they’ve got great beer, great food, great staff AND they host great events!

All winter long they often have live music on the weekends, and I’ve heard some open mics and other events have been hosted as well. Here is a picture of Sarah Swain and the Oh Boys at some point in the fall of 2024. Fun events only pick up during the summer months, as one might expect!

If you’re coming off the outer beaches, be sure to also check out the surf lounge (the hog island satellite spot) up in Wellfleet, just south of Marconi beach right on route 6. In addition to a good beer selection, last year they even had oysters on the half shell!
