Great vibe at this upper east side spot. Very friendly and professional staff. They have a standing “off-menu” steak sandwich, which is kind of a must. Miso cod was tasty and the ice cream and out-of-the-oven chocolate chip cookies did not disappoint.

We enjoyed our evening at Hoexters. The restaurant is dark and intimate (on the smaller side) and very busy, with a lively, trendy vibe. Even though we had a reservation, we still waited about 25–30 minutes for our table, so we grabbed drinks at the bar—worth it, because the dirty martinis were delicious.
Food-wise, we had salads, steak, fries, and burgers. I have to say, I wasn’t expecting the smashburger to be as good as it was—it really surprised me in the best way. Fries did come out super salty, but they did remake them for us. Service was generally pretty good, but we were disappointed that one person in our group had to wait an extra 15–20 minutes for her burger while everyone else’s food came out, and no one from the staff really acknowledged the delay.
Prices were on the higher side. But to be expected for any big city.
Overall, it’s a fun, trendy spot that’s great for a date or a group night out. Despite a few hiccups, we’d definitely check it out again if we’re in the area.
Tip: A reservation is a must!

After 4 dinners here, the food is genuinely phenomenal!!
I had a bad experience with the hostess at my recent visit. The activity prior to dinner ended a bit earlier than expected so we arrived at the restaurant about 25 minutes before my reservation time. After about 20 minutes of waiting I could see the restaurant was packed and just wanted to check how timing was looking on our table, I asked the hostess very nicely. She was over the top rude and condescending to me acting like I was stupid and asking if I could see how busy it was and if I understood there were 3 more minutes before my reservation time. She did this loudly in front of my guest. Her tone felt extremely unwarranted and made us very uncomfortable, especially when you’re stuck waiting in a tiny little entry area next to her.
Also the restaurant gets veryyyy loud and you have to scream to hear people during peak weekend dinner times.

The restaurant itself is very cute – it’s deceivingly big with a nice dining room in the back. We ordered the Gorgonzola garlic bread – which is delicious but very rich. The chopped salad was delicious and then we ordered the special which was a beef sandwich, similar to a cheese steak and it was delicious. The meat was mixed with sautéed onions and cheese and the bread was well toasted. And the cookies and icecream! Delicious. I’ve also been to Hoexter’s for brunch and got the Turkish Eggs which were also so tasty – garlicky and creamy with a nicely toasted bread.

A perfect night! The food was DELICIOUS and their martini is the best I’ve had in NY. Service was wonderful, truly next level. Can’t say a single negative thing about it!

Very warm, welcoming staff and the food is good. The vibe/ambiance is maybe a little too formal for my liking but while it’s not a destination restaurant for me, I would be happy to return if one of my UES friends suggested we go there.

Absolutely loved my experience at Hoexter’s. Was looking for the best dirty martini I could find and Hoexter’s is definitely a top contender. We got seated at probably one of the not as comfortable tables yet the experience was still 10/10. We order the caesar salad, shrimp cocktail, and some bread for the table as we were just looking for something light that night. Everything was delicious. The service was very attentive and the dim lit vibes were classy, yet still welcoming. At the very end they even give you a cute little notebook to sign next to others who have dined there as well. Definitely looking forward to coming back and having a full dinner here!

I have been here twice with varied experiences. The first was intentionally indulgent with dirty martinis and their infamous caviar and chips app, which I found to be of a good value. A great time was had!
The second was for a week night dinner. The food was tasty, but I found the steak frites to be on the chewier side and not worth the $76 in value. The creamed spinach came out late and lukewarm.
I would still come back—I see this as more of a cocktails and apps place moving forward.

The food here is hands down excellent. The Gorgonzola bread (surprisingly delicious), cheeseburger and Branzino were excellent. I don’t see that they have the calamari dish anymore but that was also amazing. Great cocktails and nice to have another fantastic restaurant on the UES. I personally don’t like sweets but their desserts here were a crowd favorite. Would go back
