This place is a must stop for anyone looking for a authentic Maine experience! You can’t get seafood any fresher then this. Mike literally goes out every morning to pull his lobster traps and hand picks what he sells at the restaurant and what he takes to the market. His lovely wife Sue is also in the kitchen and they make amazing team. This is as far from a tourist trap as it gets it’s real fresh seafood from a real family run small business. So good we went two days in a row, our only regret is not having more time for another visit!

The food here is so fantastic that I had to leave a review—this is actually the first one I’ve written since opening my account! The lobster was incredibly fresh, and the clams were perfectly clean with no sand at all. The owner was super friendly and generous—he even gave us a few extra lobster heads for free!
Our group of friends and family enjoyed five big lobsters along with some stone crabs, and it truly made our trip to Maine unforgettable. The quality of the seafood was outstanding. Highly recommend!

Great fresh seafood and very tasty seasoning (great flavor without overpowering). Good sized portions and reasonable price (get what you pay for and a bit more). Locally owned and operated: local lobsterman and retired grade school teacher couple; friendly regular folks! We stumbled on this place first night on vacation and came back twice more (only prevented from more meals by being closed, so call ahead to check) . Great relaxed outdoor seating atmosphere. One night it was raining so we were nervous, but Umbrellas allowed us to eat comfortably without getting wet. Highly recommend.

We ordered the shore dinner, lobster bisque, and a whoopie pie. The shore dinner was very large for a reasonable price and we shared it. It was incredible. The workers were so friendly and answered any questions we had. We are from the midwest where we don’t eat fresh seafood often so we had a couple questions. Highly recommend!!

Unbeatable seafood and price at Bar Harbor! Very friendly owners. There’s only outdoor seating and you’d need to bring your own drinks as they don’t sell any kind of drinks.

This is a small out of the way restaurant, a true hidden gem. Very casual with outdoor seating. Prices are competitive and the food is outstanding. The best mussels we’ve had. I had the half and half roll which is half lobster and half crab. A must visit.

A 5* rated restaurant? Could this actually exist? Yes, it does. Is it worth that rating? We say yes! The lobster roll was super fresh and instead of tiny bits of shredded lobster you get giant chucks. It is traditional as opposed to Connecticut. Their special of a roll, clam chowder, and a cookie for $33 made the drive worth it. Probably the best lobster roll we have ever had.

Came in once for the 1.25 then came back once more for the lobster roll meal special; it was the best lobster I had on my trip & incredibly reasonable pricing with generous portions compared to others! Thanks again, it was delicious.

Ate here twice during my last day on the island this past trip. I always stay at Quietside campground which is not too far down the road so Idk why I’ve never stopped in before but that is definitely a thing of the past now. Owners were super friendly. They even gave me a free rock crab with my lobster to try. Lobster can be taken to go live or cooked on site and they also allow you to choose your own size lobster and just get that if you don’t want a full shore dinner which comes with clams, muscles, corn & coleslaw etc… That there was one of the biggest draws for me as I’m not a fan or corn or coleslaw really and I’m a native new englander who already eats clams and mussles all the time. Sometimes you just want a lobster and that’s it. I also wanted to point out that a previous recent review said they don’t have a drink cooler but that is incorrect she may have just missed it. Not only do they have drinks but when I asked the woman working if I could swap out one of my warm Poland springs from the car for one of their cold ones ( super hot day ) she not only said yes but told me to just take it free of charge and not worry about replacing it. I still did but that was awfully nice of her. Also the prices are the best around in my opinion. Will definitely be making this my regular spot and can’t say enough good things about the place. Oh and the owner bakes fresh chocolate chip cookies for a buck too!

Hands down, the best local Maine lobster experience around. During my visit to Acadia, I tried several lobster pounds, and this one stood out for offering the best price, best value, best quality, best atmosphere, and hands-down best customer service. We had the shore dinner special—and wow, was it hmm hmm hmm delicious!
* The meal included a 1.25 lb lobster, 1 lb each of clams and 1 lb mussels, fresh corn on the cob, incredibly flavorful clam chowder, and crisp coleslaw—all for half the price I saw anywhere else. Even better? It was cooked and served by the lobsterman himself, who took the time to chat with us. He and his wife run this two-person gem with warmth, kindness, and genuine hospitality.
This experience is the crown of what made and still makes Maine summer famous!
“Best feasting experience in many years, if ever!” – Hubby
This was the most authentic and memorable dining experience I’ve had in decades. Definitely in my top five! It’s more than worth the extra drive from downtown Bar Harbor. Don’t miss it—you won’t regret it.
