Not the speediest cafe, but they do make a nice cinnamon-y oat chai latte.

This landmark cafe is located catty corner from the Swarthmore train station on Septas Wawa line. It’s been here for a long time. Wait staff pleasantly greeted me when I walked in. Service was relaxed and made me feel comfortable being my first visit. Ordered ice coffee and a bagel with cream cheese. Bagel n coffee both very fresh at noontime. Large seating area with tables n chairs. Half filled mostly lap toppers and a few locals. They did a good amount of take out while I was there. I’ll be back!!

Used to be one of my favorite places go… Been out of the area for a while, I was very excited to get a breakfast sandwich here… Things have obviously changed. My sandwich was full of disgusting char. It literally was not even edible. Nowhere near the quality they used to be, plus the prices went up significantly. I have seen throw up more appetizing than this. Waste of my time and money. Very disappointed.

This place… Wow… I guess they’ll just keep getting bad reviews from people because of their awful costumer service. When a costumer walks in, you say “Hello” “How are you?” This is the basics. What is wrong with the people here, then you want to swing your iPad over for a tip? Get lost.

You go here for a coffee and a small bite. Don’t expect anything outrageous foodwise, but it’s all ok. Meet up with a friend and chat inside or out. It can get busy with loud music inside. Mostly students and local villagers attend.

I like their bagel sandwiches a lot, they are a good option for a quick lunch. The shop can get quite crowded during the school year.

Reading the negative reviews and it seems I’m not alone. I walk up to the counter and I just get stared at, not a hello or good morning. Starbucks employees muster up a greeting at least. This has happened more than once and I was trying to give them a chance but no. I don’t know who is responsible for hiring but they must train or hire more pleasant people. These are the same people that want you to tip after giving you attitude and acting as if you’re bothering them.

The wait staff is absolutely lovely, but everything else points to absentee management of the worst kind. Their menu is dreadful: think BJ’s bagels. In the past, it was frequently filthy, like you-stick-to-the-tables and please-don’t-look-at-the-floor filthy. I try not to go in anymore, so who knows about this minute? They renovated a bit ago, and it still looks crass. What is most infuriating about this place is their slovenly attitude toward contact. Their “website” is a name, address and telephone number. That’s it. The phone’s mailbox is full, and doesn’t even have a message. God, Swarthmore needs a better café!
