Foul rotten and disgusting. I took a gamble and lost. Where to start?… The rice was floating in some dark liquid, soy sauce possibly, it was essentially a small pond with rice and it tasted like burnt hair. The “sesame chicken” was all batter with a drizzle of sauce more on the bag then on the chicken. Finally the egg roll was sliced in half and tasted like a rotten peppery cabbage. Inside is depressing and dirty to my amazement as they do not have dine in or buffet no longer so why is it dirty? Bathroom “out of order” 10/10 would not recommend.

It was only takeout unfortunately, but overall the staff was helpful with ordering, the orange chicken sauce was amazing and was plentiful, good rice, great Cream Cheese Wontons, overall 5 stars. I will be back.

UPDATE: as I said, I was back, still a 5 star experience, LOVE the orange chicken and wontons, i took pics this time (I have soy sauce on the rice)

Don’t go here. I had their wontons and “sesame chicken”. Everything tasted days old, stale, stiff, and beyond overcooked. The sesame chicken was awful and there were about 2 sesame seeds per piece of burnt chicken. I went there on a Tuesday night if that matters. I would avoid them no matter the day or time though.

I want to love this place it was by far one of the best resteraunts in the area grown up, its just not nearly as good as it used to be. Burnt poor tasting food lo mein and fried rice taste like the smell of burnt hair, Phoenix chicken was hard General tsoa chicken felt like it was reheated. Egg rolls were good. wontons cream cheese tastes off. I’m so disappointed how did you guys let it go so far downhill.

Today was the first time I’ve eaten at Ho King for 6 or 7 years. Didn’t eat there at any point during the pandemic. Pretty noticeable drop in quality since I’ve last eaten there. The sesame chicken, which used to be pretty good, doesn’t even look the same. The breading used to have a good crunch to it, now is kind of mushy and not nearly as satisfying. Ive eaten sesame chicken at many different restaurants and if you were to put this in front of me and tell me it was sesame chicken, I’d call you a liar.Very noticeable that they are using cheaper ingredients. I went here today because I haven’t been in quite a while and I had good memories of this place. It makes me sad to say I won’t be coming back.

I’ve been eating here since I was a kid. 20+ years later, and the food is still just as good as it has always been. I’ve tried to find a place that makes better sesame or sweet & sour chicken, but nothing else compares to Ho King! The lo mein and egg drop soup are incredible, too. Not only is the food really good, but the owners are great, kind people.

I’ve loved Ho King since I moved here as a teenager. It is a family owned/operated business and they are a terrific family at that. Great food too! Do yourself a favor and get some cream cheese wontons! You’ll thank me later

Chicken and shrimp Lo mein is perfect. chicken fried rice was great. But the orange and seaseme chicken are more dough then dried chicken chunks. Seriously thought it was dumplings at first. Tried to split a piece and all of the breading just peeled away. Recommend improvements in this area.

Well tonight was a big disappointment. We’ve been going here since 2103 and have had great meals, but tonight, two thirds of what we ordered was inedible. The good news was that the chicken chow mien and the wontons were good. But the sesame chicken looked like it had been badly burnt after being run over with a car. Sesame chicken should not be black. Then the cashew chicken- looked good, but the flavor was WAY off. Honestly tasted like bathroom cleaner was in there. Totally inedible. Both orders came with fried rice and egg rolls, all burnt as well.
It’s a sad day when I feel that HyVee is putting out better Chinese food. Very disappointing.

HORRIBLE
Food was old. I ordered sweet and sour chicken and the sauce was lumpy and thick. The chicken was bone dry. I also ordered Lo main and it was old and dry. I had to add soy sauce to it to make it better. It do not help much. I ended up getting sick in the middle of the night. I have ordered here 3 separate times and each time its been bad. I thought I would give them another chance. Never again. NASTY.
