I asked my husband to check out this spot after seeing an Instagram reel – the steak looked that good. We ended up ordering the signature XL steak with black pepper sauce, the slippery egg pork chop, and a Hong Kong milk tea. The XL steak was unreal. A full 12-oz cut and truly a bang for your buck. The pasta served with it was perfectly al dente, and the black pepper sauce was so good… very similar to Panda Express’ black pepper chicken sauce (in the best way). I’d probably order my steak medium-rare next time, but flavor-wise, it was excellent! The slippery egg pork chop was also really good. The pork was incredibly moist, with a thin, crunchy crust, and the sauce-to-pork ratio was spot on. Honestly, I’d order extra sauce next time just because the flavor is that good. I do prefer a runnier scrambled egg, and this one leaned more omelette-style, but it was still tasty and worked well with the dish. AND the milk tea oh my gosh. We can’t get enough of it – so so so good!!! This place is absolutely worth the money. We had to grab butter pineapple buns to go before leaving, because how could we not? Definitely coming back.

If you are looking for a true taste of Hong Kong, HK Alley is the real deal. We visited as a family and it immediately took us back home.
The food was excellent: the Steak over Rice combo was savory and tender, and the Slippery Egg Chicken had that perfect, silky texture that is so hard to find elsewhere. My mom especially loved the Salted Egg Pineapple Bun, the perfect sweet and salty combo.
The Coffee Milk Tea (Yuenyeung) was a highlight; the flavor profile was exactly like what you’d find at a traditional Cha Chaan Teng. My only small note is that the Hot Milk Tea could have been served a bit hotter, but the flavor was still spot on.
Being from NYC, my mom was so thrilled to have found a spot like this. This was definitely needed in Edison, NJ. We’re so happy to have found a spot that feels like home!

Had the opportunity to try their peppered steak and milk bubble tea combo. Highly recommend it; the flavored steak with the linguine underneath tastes so amazing. Far superior to many American restaurants’ pasta entrée. Give it a try when you get the chance. Definitely coming back again!

Saw many postive review so I gave it a try, ordered pork chop rice gratin with an egg, taste sooo good. Pork chop is crispy and juicy, rice is well cooked, and the portion is big, much better then many restaurants in Edison area. I saw their XL steak poster outside, looks awesome. They are a tips-free restaurant now, I will definitely come to try the steak next time.

HK Alley is located in Edison, NJ, just one block away from the HMart shopping plaza. After reading that they serve authentic Hong Kong–style food, I decided to give it a try, I ordered their classic HK black tea milk tea and cream brûlée milk tea frappe, the flavor is very rich. Would try their dishes next time.

The servers were friendly and helpful. I would give the food 3.5 ⭐️ but we bumped it up to 4 ⭐️ because of the service. We ordered the following:

The food was delicious we got the black pepper steak over pasta, french toast, and strawberry brulee milk. Everything looked so pretty and was so tasty! The steak was better than a steak house, and the french toast was so flavorful and just the right amount of sweetness. It’s such an unsuspecting little place from the outside! The inside is clean and the staff is friendly. Would love to come back!

A home away from home cafe. The employees can speak both Mandarin and Cantonese and were super helpful recommending us which drinks to order, even offering us samples. The HK milk teas remind me so much of my time in Hong Kong — very strong without being bitter. The boba is soft and chewy! Can’t wait go to back to try their egg tarts and other drinks! 多谢(˶‾᷄ ⁻̫ ‾᷅˵)

Food was very good, chicken was mouthwatering and tender. Portions were so large, prices were very good as well. I got the mango pomelo slushy, it tasted very fresh and was addicting to drink. Place looked very clean and well decorated. Overall, would recommend!
