I had a friend come in to make sure they were dog friendly, I have a dog in training, there was a big retriever sitting in the middle of the floor, asked bartender if it’s ok if dog was leashed while we found a place in the back, no big deal not a big ask…. Bartender was super sweet, the owner of the dog was quite rude and told me if it was irresponsible of me to bring my muzzled dog in training into a bar…. When im proactively trying to keep my rescue and every dog around him safe, I muzzle ALL dogs I have in training. It was extremely unfortunate because we would have loved to sit down and had a good experience. The owner of the dog also said his dog had been in a fight previously in this bar, that the sad fact is why isn’t that dog leashed and it’s a dog friendly place? This conversation left a VERY bad taste in my mouth, not necessarily the establishment but dogs are still animals and EVERY owner should be proactive. The bartender was very sweet, can’t say anything else about the experience because I didn’t even have a chance to order a drink.

New owner and new life to this local gathering spot! Driven by for years, but no reason to stop. NOW they are popping up on event calendars. Today i went to local artist gathering/sale. What a great time! Looking forward to more here.

Great place for drinks, pool, music and watching houses burn down. The first Strong Row house fire was a day-drinking event and was well-attended where the latest one was a night game. There’s still 3 or 4 houses to go so if you smell smoke, get there early for the best rubber-necking spots! Cold beer and hot ash!

The Hitching Post is a genuinely cool bar, the BEST in Bisbee, not a “hip” downtown Old B bar, the Real Thing. It has an outdoor patio, nice in itself and especially good for the Shutdown. Cheap, potent margaritas. An indoor fireplace! Pool tables. Chile. The crowd is local, all kinds’ a local, not tourists, because it is not in Old B but on Bisbee Road on the way to Warren, kind of across from the thrift store and the DQ. As Laurie Anderson said, “Well just take a right where They’re going to build that new shopping mall.” People are free inside the HP. I can’t even describe how free it is because the Powers That Be would take notice. But the HP rocks, totally rocks. And great country western on the juke box, Roy Orbison, Patsy Cline. Dive bar aficionados, this is home. No accident the parking lot is always packed.

Not like it was back in the 80s, building is worn down! Needs major repairs and mold removed from ceiling, trim work and baseboards. Bartender is rude! Fun place when they have events such as hotdog eating contest- if one doesn’t mind the mugginess and odor.

It’s an atmosphere you can only find in small town rural dive bars, and this is a great one. Parties, music, and colorful locals that are friendly to everyone who comes in for a good time. Say Hi to Eddie as you walk in – he’ll be in his corner office (barstool). 😉
