This was my first time eating at Hironori for the first time and was surprised by the entire experience. Food came out on time, tasted amazing and the service was very attentive. The manager, Kris was kind enough to give us a rundown of the popular items and help out make our choice for our lunch. Will be coming back to this location.

This place is amazingly delicious. My absolute favorite are their Eel buns, and if Im a little extra hungry their spicy tuna on crispy rice is also amazing. I tried their ramen (seen in the pics) and jt was also great. Their service is wonderful-they just need a bigger space!

This place is incredible especially their vegan ramen. I am not vegan myself. However, I love the vegan sesame flavored ramen with charred broccolini. However, I find it be overpriced and not so much value for the money. Staff is great and enthusiastic and the creativity is profound.

On the back of the menu, it tells the story that they grow their own wheat and craft the ramen themselves. You can definitely tell the noodles were more chewy. We tried the Shoyu Ramen and the pork rice bowl, and both were delicious. The restaurant is tiny and there’s limited indoor seating, but you can sit outdoor on a nice day. There’s limited service, you just make your order at the counter, grab a number, and they will bring the food out to you.

Took an hour to ready a pickup order for 2 bowls of ramen, when their messaging was that it would be ready in “up to 30 minutes”. The host said she’d call my name when ready, but I had to check in with someone and they got me a bag that had been sitting here for 5 minutes already. The food is always amazing, but that kind of service is ridiculous.

Used to be our favourite spot for past 8 months or so. I don’t know what happened but the wait times are super long and inconsistent. We always get for here but outside seating but lately started noticing that people seated inside get food sooner even if they arrived later. Really frustrating. Several times they have forgotten to bring side orders or the whole order. They were apologetic but after multiple times I’m not sure we can wait outside as its been colder. It’s not their fault but this irvine apartment plaza does not have outdoor heaters set up so you are guaranteed to freeze in the evening, especially with the wait times.
Also some of the food has been lower quality lately. I have gotten cold dipping noodles many times before, last night the sauce was so unbearable and too acidic/vinegary and completely ruined my taste buds rest of the night.
Tonkatsu ramen is good but the pork lately has been more fatty that meaty.
Shoyu ramen is ok but they use waaaay too much oil. I always order it expecting to be a bit lighter than tonkatsu but the amount of oil on top is insane.

Probably my last time going to Hironori. I think it’s changed from when they first opened near SNA. The noodles are slightly larger and not as firm and the tonkotsu broth is overly rich and fatty as if industrially made with large pressure cookers and emulsion blenders. I’m no longer a fan and will be looking for a different go-to ramen spot. Although the black garlic oil is still good and the seared chasu is not bad. Sayonara Hironori.

Usually, Hiro Nori has an exemplary record for amazing Tonkotsu Ramen. I don’t know what they put into the broth this time, but it was definitely NOT tonkotsu!

We used to come here every week. The service has declined over the last few months. The people working the register and staffing the front of house seem overwhelmed. They look confused by questions, and they half whisper their answers. Food also sometimes takes 30 minutes to come out — obviously not acceptable for a ramen joint. They also claim they are adding a 10% service charge, but it has increased to almost 12% without notifying customers. We were okay with that service charge when service was good, but now the service is frustrating and slow. They used to come out to the outdoor tables to check on the meal, but that doesn’t happen anymore. The food used to be good enough that we were still willing to tolerate the declining service, but the food has started to decrease in quality as well. This past Friday, our shoyu ramen came out without bamboo and with tough-as-leather chashu. We requested a side of bamboo, and it took 10 minutes for them to bring it out. Finally, we all got sick after the meal. We will not be returning.

This pains me to write this, because I’ve always have loved Hironori. I ordered in the evening with my coworker felt fine right after. I woke up in the middle of the night (3:00 AM) and vomited all over my bathtub. I’m not sure why because I’ve had Hironori before and felt fine. Hironori staff, I really hope you check your food and make sure it is clean…..
