BEWARE BEWARE! Unfair Cancellation Fee Experience

I recently had a very disappointing experience with this restaurant. I had to cancel my reservation because I tested positive for COVID-19 and was too sick to attend. I tried calling to explain the situation, but no one answered or returned my calls. Despite giving more than 24 hour + notice, I was still charged a cancellation fee for a dinner I never even attended.

For a so called michelin star omakase if they are not getting a fresh delivery every morning then everyone is eating DAY OLD fish EWWW!

It’s incredibly unfair to penalize someone under those circumstances, especially when there was legitimate notice and a valid health reason. I would have expected a more understanding and responsive approach, particularly given today’s environment. Unfortunately, this experience left a bad impression and I don’t plan on booking here again.

They didn’t even call me back, they wont even return my email look at the images they just shoot the email around the company. No acknowledgement at all.

We visited Hiroki for a special occasion. My wife had just given birth and, after nine months, was finally able to enjoy sushi again. The food was outstanding as always. It was fresh, beautifully prepared, and consistently high quality. The staff was also professional and attentive, just like the last time we were here.

One small note: One of the waitresses had a noticeable sniffle and sounded congested. She did not cough and made an effort to keep a reasonable distance, so I do not want to fault her. However, as a new parent, hearing someone continuously sniffling does make me nervous. If this comes up in the future, I would appreciate the staff considering simple precautions like offering or using a face mask to help guests feel more comfortable.

Last night we did the 21 piece seasonal omakase with sake and I’m so glad we did. It was technically excellent, creative and fun. World class. An absolute must.

I hope the chef didn’t mind that I couldn’t eat the last few pieces. Luckily, my dinner companion was thrilled to help!

Can’t wait to come back. Thanks so much for great service and a memorable evening!

I went with my brother. It was a very quiet and intimate experience.

Service was fantastic and very educational.

The food was amazing and we left full after 2 hours of eating. Absolutely loved it!

We did the omakase plus sake pairing and both were amazing. There was no wait time at all

This was our first omakase dinner experience ever and we absolutely loved it. Watching the preparation was an art form in itself. Every dish was amazing and fresh and well thought out. An incredible and unique experience for sure. This was some of the best sushi we had ever had. The toro, the Black Sea bass, the sea eel, it was all just incredible. Do not skip this place if you like omakase.

The food at Hiroki is excellent. This was my first omakase experience, but I felt that the selection was thoughtful and well-prepared. All of the fish was super fresh, and the wagyu beef melted in your mouth. My only bit of feedback on the food is that the dessert was a was a little simple for the price point, but this is a minor detail. The portions were great, and we felt full after all the courses.

The service was top-notch. We had three servers, and each of them was warm and friendly, and they took the time to explain each dish as it came out. The pacing of the dishes was also perfect. I couldn’t ask for more.

However, be advised that in addition to the 20% gratuity included in the bill, a further tip is expected. This is not stated on the website or on Resy, and you would only know this by reading online reviews. From what I understood, the gratuity goes to the back of the house and operational costs, and the added tip is for the servers. We were happy to support the people who made this wonderful evening possible, but to avoid frequent confusion from guests, I think they should just bake the 20% gratuity charge into the price of the meal. I’m guessing they set the prices this way so as not to scare off potential customers, but I think a lot of people aren’t aware of this practice, get sticker shock, and end up leaving them bad reviews. I just feel for the servers who have to explain this policy every evening, as it creates an awkward situation and surprises most guests. After gratuity and the added tip, you should expect to pay at least $200 per person.

May be the best sushi in Philly and it by far the best omakaze experience in the city. Our waiter dustin curated the the sake pairing and it was spot on for each course. The Wednesday night experience was very intimate while there were only 6 people dining with two sushi chefs. Even our menu had a happy birthday statement. The food was amazing and we ordered more at the end despite being perfectly full. To top it off, the Japanese toilet in the bathroom was awesome. Truly a luxury experience worth the price.

Woooooooow this freaking restaurant was ridiculously delicious. I will forever fantasize about this food. Amazing experience for the food lovers. We checked out this place to celebrate a birthday, which I highly recommend since they are quite pricey. Perfect place to commemorate a special moment.

Great attention to detail.

The servers make you feel catered to. We got to see the chefs craft the dishes right in front of us. It was delicately prepared and served, and the servers explained all the dishes brought out. Got to taste a variety of fish cuts from all over the world.

They have an insane miso cheesecake at the end that blew my mind. I cannot wait to go back. 1000% recommended

Odd that they tell us to arrive on time and then are running 10 min late. Never seen an omakase start late.

For the price, food isn’t that good. Paid 400+ for 2 people. I’m sure there’s better places to spend the money, like rent.

I did the sushi omakase and it was my first time. I did it with the sake pairing. It was amazing! Amazing service. The staff was very attentive to all of our needs. The quality was beyond amazing. We tried so many different fresh fish sashimi and it really widen my horizon on the possibilities of sushi. It’s definitely not your average sushi you get at any restaurant. The other non sushi dishes were also delicious, it’s hard to pick a favorite because literally everything was unique, with beautiful presentation, that wows your taste buds. We sat at the sushi bar so we could watch the chef in action which was really cool. We could talk to them and ask them about the techniques and ingredients. I would totally do it again!
