Boyfriend and I have been loyal to this sushi restaurant for 3 years. Once I found it, we were so impressed with the food, and the atmosphere is really nice as it’s in the sage creek town square, lots of nice staff who always accommodate our taste! Hiro Sushi is hands down one of the best spots if you’re looking for great prices, solid quality, and friendly service. I always come back when I’m in town. The sushi is affordable without sacrificing taste, making it one of the best bang for your buck places around. The staff was thoughtful and welcoming, and even when we stayed until closing, they never rushed us and let us take our time. Reliable, consistent, and genuinely hospitable easily one of my favorite sushi spots and a place I’ll keep coming back to.

Ordered on ubereats for pickup. Salmon wasn’t fresh. Gave me stomach problems. I guessed they put so much variety of sauces (which tasted terrible) to cover up the stale salmon but I could still taste it, and my stomach didn’t lie. The portion of the Miso Soup is petty as shown in the second picture. Why do you have to do that when you literally make these soups with pre-ordered chemical powder? Plus I told the staff in front of his face that I don’t want chopsticks and ginger. Don’t know why he made the decision to skip the soy sauce for me as well. It’s a miracle that this food establishment has lasted for years in this neighbourhood. Sage Creek deserves better restaurants that won’t give you food poisoning.

Ordered through door dash. We were big fans of the Double Salmon roll and the shrimp tempura roll. We weren’t as fond of the scallop roll and unagi roll we had but that may be personal preference. All rolls were extremely fresh. Prices were good.

As an avid sushi consumer, I have spent time eating sushi all around the world—LA, Portland, Seattle, Atlanta, DC, Hawaii, Tokyo, Osaka, Seoul, Gangneung, and many other places. I either go for the highest quality or the most budget friendly (best bang for your buck) sushi spots. In all honesty, visiting Winnipeg, I had low expectations for the sushi. I’ve been spoiled with some of the best sushi all around the world. That being said, I was blown away with Hiro Sushi! I can say with full confidence that Hiro Sushi has one of the best combinations of high quality fish and reasonable/affordable prices as any sushi place I have ever visited. The phenomenal plating was just a cherry-on-top.
For nigiri / sashimi—I recommend the salmon, salmon belly, eel, and halibut. 9.7/10.
For rolls (those who can’t do real sushi )—I recommend all of them. I don’t remember the names, but they were all good. Some were spicy, some sweet, and some had a good combination of sweet and spicy. 9.3/10.
The roe bowl may be the best I’ve ever had outside of Tokyo. 10/10.
The poke bowl (or more like hourensou) was the best I’ve had. Better than Hawaii and Tokyo. 10/10.
Not all heroes (hiros) wear capes. If you ever find yourself in Winnipeg, do yourself a favor and stop by Hiro Sushi!

We were a group of 4 people and were so excited to for the sushi as many people recommended. We were sat immediately but not ordered after like 20min as there was lack of staff… I could only see 2 chefs and one girl doing the serving. My friend had to come to the cashier for ordering. The sushi was phenomenal but with the wait of almost an hour, I might not come back

Enjoyed taking my daughter for her birthday lunch here. The place is very clean and very simple. The sushi for the most part was very good I found that some rolls used a little too much rice. The fish tasted very fresh and looked great. The Nigiri had huge beautiful slices of fish on it, very nice. Service was good friendly waiter and cooks always had a smile on their faces.

Food was just so so….I got an Alaska roll, the salmon was not very fresh. The green onions in the Negi toro roll is also not fresh…

Sushi was great, really tasty. It’s a bit pricier than other restaurants but I’m glad to pay for better quality. Service was good as well. I’ll be coming back to try other rolls and see if the quality holds but so far I’m impressed.
The only thing that I can think of that doesn’t deserve five stars is the locale itself. I found it very clean but perhaps a tad cold in regards of decoration. A bit more atmosphere would have been appreciated even though the nice, classy Christmas music helped with it. It’s a very minor thing and didn’t affect our lunch experience at all.
