wow so flavorful and tender. need to come back. PHEW. also the lady was so kind. this place is also so fun looking! def a later spot that you can hit up (my neighborhood food spots tend to close by 7pm and they’re open until 10)

Best Freaking BBQ in all of the bay…..straight GASSSSSSS. It’s not about RACE CREED OR COLOR, It’s about authentic southern BBQ, great vibes, great atmosphere & genuinely great staff! I already ordered our family’s Smoked Ham & drunken Turkey for upcoming Thanksgiving!!!

My husband is from the south, and we are super picky about barbecue! This woman did it right! We just moved to the area and we will definitely be back, we actually both contemplated going back just to tell her how good her cooking is! Everything is super flavorful, perfectly seasoned, and cooked like barbecue should be! Especially loved the sauces she used on the brisket, and the Mac salad was so unique and tasty.

Hip Hop BBQ Shack is the real deal! The brisket was melt-in-your-mouth tender with that perfect smoky flavor that keeps you going back for “just one more bite” (I went back for a second order). The mac & cheese? Creamy, cheesy, and straight-up comfort in a bowl. And the coleslaw added that fresh, crunchy kick that tied everything together. Honestly, this combo hit every craving — I was in BBQ heaven. If you’re anywhere near Hip Hop, do yourself a favor and grab a plate. Thanks Chef May!

Their store sign still says Rib Shack, but this is indeed Hip Hop Bbq Shack! I am so impressed by Chef May who seems to be running the whole entire place by herself. We came at 6:30pm (3 adults) and put in our to-go order — it was done within 20-30min but in the future I would call to place the order.
Bbq was amazing, highly recommend the beef ribs and brisket. Jerk chicken was solid. Sides we ordered: Mac n cheese, collard greens, beans.
Would definitely come again.

The food is really good, its tasty the meat is tender its smoky. Everything you hope your bbq will be.
However, the place needs some cleaning and organizing. The restaurantbis close so you can’t sit inside. They have benches outside with games to play while waiting but its cluttery and dirty. And that’s the firstbthing the customer would see.
It says hip hop bbq but the sign still say Rib shack bbq.
My suggestion is, call and order ahead to pick it up.

The delicious ribs and potato salad were a highlight, as was Chef Mae’s service. She made us feel like family. Great flavor, good prices. Will be back, will be hungry, and will be bringing friends!

We were craving BBQ after a niner game and this place did not disappoint!! Got a rib and brisket plate — the ribs were meaty & tender, the brisket was so tasty we wish we got more. The coleslaw & cornbread was on point and would recommend getting the mac and cheese cause it was delicious! If you are looking for some good BBQ look no further this place is a must! Thanks for the good food and hospitality we will definitely be coming back.

If someone told me the BEST Bay Area BBQ was coming out of a real life shack I’d say yeah right, but Chef May is amazing all the way around! Everything was delicious, she has a great family recipe for the rub. We had the Jack Daniels ribs + burnt ends, baked beans, bbq spaghetti, cornbread, Mac and cheese, hot links, and cakes! Chef was super fast considering the size of our order and was very generous in portions. Overall 10/10 experience any reason to go is a good one 🙂
