I was visiting Fargo and was lucky enough to stay next door to the Himalayan Yak. I am a big fan of Nepalese food and was hesitant to try it out because I didn’t expect to even have this as an option in Fargo. I read the reviews and knew I had to give a try. I opted for the lunch buffet ($20 excellent price) because of the variety of dishes and it looked fresh. All of the meats were delicious but my 2 favorites were chicken tikka misala and goat curry. Fantastic flavors with really tender meat. The aloo ko achar (potato salad) was my favorite side dish. The Nan and rice were probably the only items that weren’t as good as everything else but I was too infatuated with the goat curry to care. They also had mango juice, mango pudding and rice pudding for the sweet finish. Never been a huge fan of any of those due to being too sweet but these had great balance of not being overly sweet. Truly a hidden gem in Fargo and if I ever come back… I’m eating the lunch buffet.

Stopped in for the lunch buffet and it was great! Fast service, food was amazing, they asked if there was anything I wanted and made sure all items were well stocked. Will definitely be back again!

NOT SPICY on purpose! Try the Lunch Buffet. They say they purposely don’t make dishes hot so everyone can enjoy…usually the problem whenever I took kids to Indian. They said if you want more (heat) they can add more.
They serve plain Naan but also Papadums, which I haven’t seen since Emeryville, CA food court.

We used Door Dash last night and had the non-vegetarian dinner set. We were blown away! The flavors were so complimentary – the medium spice level was perfect and portions were plenty. The only bummer is we did not receive our dessert.
If you are on the fence – the lamb curry and vegetable korma pair perfectly together. The samosa was also delish and a first for me! I am certain we will indulge again.

Give this place some love! Food is amazing and the staff are so friendly. We had the samosas, Mutter Paneer and Paneer Chilli and everything was SPOT ON

I ate way too much at the buffet, and that is a compliment. The food is excellent, and there is a great variety. I love the ambiance, it feels warm and welcoming, and it is very close to home, which makes it an easy favorite. The location is perfect. I genuinely brag to my friends every time I come here because they are absolutely missing out.

Worth the visit! Amazing food. One of the best places I have eaten in Fargo.
Don’t try and decide just go.

I guess one of the main reasons my wife and I come to the Himalayan Yak, other than we enjoy Indian food, is they are open Mondays. I did enjoy the old location on 25th a little better than this location.
The Himalayan Yak has a nice but small lunch buffet. We spent approximately 36 dollars between the two of us which included the full buffet and a drink.
You seat yourself when you walk in and don’t pay until you are ready to leave. The food is generally good, warm to hot, although a few of the dishes could use a little more flavor, especially the Chicken Tikka Masala. I don’t mean spicy hot, I am talking about bland versus flavorful.
It would also be nice if the Naan Bread would be brought out fresh and hot and offered at the tables rather than sitting in a warmer on the buffet. I have seen this done at a few Indian buffets in larger cities.
If you have not tried the Himalayan Yak I definitely would suggest you give it a try.

You can tell that the staff enjoy working here and take pride in what they do. As I was ordering, they asked me about spice levels and things like that to be sure I knew what I was in for. They checked in with every table to make sure everything was to their liking. I loved every bite and the fresh naan was some of the best bread I’ve ever had. The music and decor is the perfect blend and immerses you into the atmosphere without overdoing it. I ended up ordering way too much food, but it makes for good leftovers!

Food was very salty when we had our lunch buffet last Saturday. We heared very good things about this restaurant. The mutton curry was over salty, so was the pakora. The two types of rice were good. The tanduri chicken has a stale smell, but the butter chicken was good.
