My husband and I come here almost every date night! This is our favorite restaurant in Rapid City. Delicious food, perfect spice level, attention to detail, and the nicest staff. They know us now, and when we come in, they always greet us so sweetly and take such good care of us. This is the best place!

Pure comfort food deliciousness! Had Mo Mo ( won ton dumplings, steamed with chicken) and a yummy dipping sauce; butter chicken (you can request a spicy as you want it); and basil garlic naan. Everything was so good. It was perfection. We will definitely go back to try other dishes.

Tried the samosa and masala chai here which was just average. The masala chai was very bland, no flavor of ginger. The filling inside of samosas was very dry and crumble out. Daal makhni and naan were good though.

Came in with a big group, including toddlers. The workers were so kind and even brought out Mango Lassi’s for the small kids to enjoy. The food was just as great. I only tried dishes that were mild and medium in heat. I enjoyed the medium level most, it had just enough heat to still enjoy the flavors.

As this was the first time I ate there, I was sad to hear the buffet had been shut down a few years back, it’s sometime I would have liked to try more of the dishes they offer!

We will definitely be back!

Absolutely loved the food here! We had the Chilli Chicken and Butter Naan and both were incredibly delicious. The naan was soft, buttery and paired perfectly with the flavorful, slightly spicy Chilli Chicken.

Fun tip: the Chilli Chicken isn’t listed on the menu but you can ask for it specially—and trust me, it’s worth it!

Highly recommend this spot if you’re craving something flavorful and comforting. ✨

Himalayan Kitchen is, in my opinion, one of the best resturants in Rapid City. Their food is authentically Himalayan. Similar to Indian cuisine. So watch out on the level of spiciness you select! Regaurdless if you get the tikka masala, saag, biryani, ect., the flavors really pop. I have not had a single bad dish in the many times I have enjoyed this establishment. A local favorite is the lamb curry and I can personally vouch that their lamb preparation is excellent. Don’t forget to get an order of garlic basil or cheese naan to help gather up the extra sauces. The price vs quality is great here too. Not the cheapest meal you can get, but well worth splurging on. Dining in, you are treated to a calm, clean environment full of art and decor that sets an exotic mood. The best part, however, is the quality of service provided. The staff at Himalayan Kitchen treat you with kindness and respect. They make you feel like a welcome guest and are appreciative that you choose to spend your money and time at their restaurant. Sadly, that is a rare experience for me lately but Himalayan Kitchen really shines in this department.

The food is delicious but overly spicy (chicken biryani). I loved the flavor but had a hard time eating it because of the spice. Husband’s was also too spicy. The staff was attentive, caring and very helpful. If I were to make a suggestion, I would ask people that are new “what spice level do you like?” And cook accordingly. “Spice” can be flavor or spicy heat. I love spice and curry, but sadly this was overwhelming. My husband is Iraqi and we eat Biryani all the time with no spicy heat. We thought this would be similar.

We stopped by for pick up minutes after they opened for the dinner shift. Although online it said the food would be ready at 1645 and the restaurant opened at 1630, they had the food ready, hot and FRESHLY made minutes we arrived. I was greeted with a sweet smile and insanely delicious aroma. The staff were very kind and happy. The food was absolutely delectable. I ordered everything mild so our kids could eat all of it, but I love spicy. I asked them for a small side of spice and they very happily obliged. I have CONSISTENTLY had DELICIOUS food and EXCELLENT customer service at Himalayan Kitchen. On the rare occasion we get food to go or eat out, we splurge guilt-free here. I feel good supporting a local, family business who bring their culture and authentic cooking styles and ingredients to the table.

Date: 2nd July, 2025

Ordered (through UBER Eats):
– Tandoori Chicken ($17). It came with lentil and rice.
– Plain naan ($3.5).

Taste: Chicken Tandoori was average. Not super yummy. But not bad too. I took medium spicy. Spice level was okay for me. The daal (lentil) was above average. Naan was as usual.

Amount:
– 6 Pieces Chicken with sauteed onions and bell peppers. Can be shared among 2-3 people.
– Plain naan was cut into 4 pieces. Good for one person.

Do I recommend? You can give it a try if you love chicken.

Went to pick up the food. They have a nice place to enjoy foods.

My favorite Indian restaurant in town!!! The food is awesome and they give you plenty. They have los of vegan options and you can sub coconut milk in most dishes. Once in awhile I try one of the other Indian places and I always regret it. Service is great too!
