The food was decent, and the service was excellent. We ordered butter chicken with garlic naan and the highly recommended cheese naan, which wasn’t bad but tasted like pizza bread. The mango lassi, however, was off-putting, with a strange cigarette ash-like flavor. Many out-of-town visitors praise this as the go-to Indian restaurant, but I find it a bit overhyped. Additionally, the dining room could use some upgrades—it feels like they just opened.

AVOID THIS PLACE in my humble opinion. At the entry there was a staff member sitting with his feet on the glass door facing the guests coming in. It seemed like the folks working there were not interested in serving anyone. The guy who took our order was decent though. The curries were bland and missing salt. Even got a potato piece that was stale and felt like vomiting. The place is not cheap at all and still has no indoor decor of any sort.

Note as of January 31st: Called Everest and the worker stated that Himalayan has been permanently closed. He then said he wasnt sure. I honestly hope that theyre not permanently closed because it was my all time favorite restaurant and would be such a loss to the city.

My last time in there when I posted pictures of the restaurant was still great. Even though they were completely out of naan due to being slammed, they were still incredibly kind. I understand that the spot that they have is smaller and probably has an incredibly cramped kitchen. Being the only Indian place for a quiet some time as well, theyre probably constantly slammed. Especially with delivery services, which can be detrimental to speed for in house dining experiences, but also cause a terrible burn out on workers.

Im not sure exactly where they could move, except south of town where The Lodge was, if they want wanted more space.

Even through all the time of coming here, the only real bad experiences ive ever had was with naan being too hard or too small. In reality, they were probably just getting absolutely bombarded with orders all across the city.

I hope that this isn’t the end. It would mean that Kearney has lost 2 incredible Indian restaurants. Would this be the last time one even one would be in town too?

It seems like it.

Shrimp pakoda was very delicious, price might seen high for the amount
Combination naan basket is a great option to try the different types of naan, cheese, original, and garlic . Cheese was the best!
Tandoori chicken leg came out steaming and was delicious!
Chicken Mango however stole the show, it was amazing! Mild flavor truly is mild, no spice at all which made the flavors stand out even better. Perfect for anyone who can not handle spice or just prefers no spice.
I can not say how spicy each level above mild is, but mild is a true mild of no spice
Small wait time for food to be made, but definitely worth it
A lot of dishes are priced 19.99 and above, amount of one dish could possibly be shared between two people
The waiter was so nice
The food is absolutely amazing you can not go wrong with here 🙂

I had the Shrimp Coconut Korma and some cheese naan. It was fantastic! We’ll definitely be coming back to Himalayan when we are in Kearney! I’d love to try some of their other dishes. My daughter had the Mango Chicken (Very savory and flavorful!).

We try to get this place every time we pass through town. They are great with Gluten Free, as someone with celiac I’ve never had trouble eating here. My husband and I are big fans of Indian & Himalayan cuisines and we find this to be one of the best for flavor. I always get the paneer saag, butter chicken, and today we tried their tandoori chicken Tikka. So amazing all around, we cannot recommend it enough. The price is worth the quality you get.

Delicious! The inside of the restaurant itself is small and nothing special, but you don’t need anything special— just good food, and they deliver I got the chicken saag with coconut instead of dairy milk, MILD because I’m weak sauce when it comes to heat, and it was great! My wife got lamb Rogan Josh which was fantastic too. We got the combination naan and it was yummy.

We don’t stop at chain fast food places when traveling, so when the Himalayan Indian Kitchen showed up on our search online, we thought it was worth a try. EXCELLENT choice for our supper!! The atmosphere is barbecues, but the food was great, and the one person waiter/serverstaff did a good job and was pleasant. I hope we have an opportunity to stop again and try some other menu choices.

Great food! I got the Mango Chicken Curry, which was excellent. My menu had some sauce caked on the cover, and the interior is very bland. You can also hear the kitchen through the curtain in the dining hall. Excellent food and service though!

I don’t want to be too critical here, just fair. The food was very good. I had the Korma, my son had mango chicken. The mango plate was much too sweet. The Garlic naan was excellent. The Korma was very good. It’s a typical Indian / American food restaurant, not sure if they have an authentic menu.

The ambiance was pretty poor. It’s really set up more for delivery than dine in.

At $20 a plate, the value wasn’t there. It’s cool that Kearney NE actually has a decent Indian food place for the locals, so I want it to do well. But once the novelty wears off, I’d suggest lowering the price to be in the Ballpark at least with other restaurants with good food and ambiance.

If they offered free delivery, I might go for it again. Otherwise, I’ll wait till I get home.
